Same here, I have a "Tech" folder in my bookmarks bar that has separate folders in different categories. That way if FABO is down I don't have to worry about lost info.

When I do the HEI conversions I do use an MSD Blaster 2 coil, mainly out of habit. I haven't had one go bad yet but I have seen the ignitions drop like flies.

HEI for my daily drivers. I have seen too many new MSDs fail and I like the fact that all the stuff needed is off the shelf parts.

Because It's not a mopar and I figured since it an Oldsmobile the guys over on classicoldsmobile.com would know.......yeah, not so much.

Thats what I was looking for. Their site didn't make it clear if I needed to run an ignition box (MSD or HEI) or if you just run a hot/switched wire and go.

Really? Go ahead and unhook it, it's just the exhaust control unit. You will get better gas mileage if you unhook it.

Mounting a GM alt on a V8 is easy. I ran one for years on a 360.

The field wire is a single wire going into the alt and there are 2 wires coming out of the spade connector one going in and one coming out goes to the choke.

The blue field wire from the alternator was how the factory did it. If not that then just use a 12v source that turns on with the key (not the coil wire though).

GOT IT! Turn signal switch is toast. The truck cam with another one that works but you have to hold it for the turn signals to work. I will put it in and order a new one Monday. Thanks for your help.

Yeah, they used all the left over distributer connectors anywhere they could on these trucks. The be wires all check out. I am almost certain it is something under the dash.:read2:
