first time to the track with new combo (video inside)

Your not really down on power, your converter "now" is blowing the tires & your 60fts. are horrible, you'll gain some MPH back once it hooks, Your ETs will really improve also.

first time to the track with new combo (video inside)

Thats what i ran in my 71 swinger with a 95 junkyard 360 magnum, the bottom end stayed stock, installed RHS heads, re-ground factory cam, RPM intake, 650dp, headers, 2800 stall, 4.10 gears, car ran 106 @ 12.50s on 1.79/1.80 60fts., ran a 125 shot through it & pulled off 7.4s @ 96 in the 1/8 with...

    1/4 times 4 my car?

I've witnessed some really fast Mopars on slapper bars, most that think they don't work don't understand them or know how to dial them in, there old technology but they worked, chevies have "nothing" to do with it.

Took the car to the track (non-mopar)

Finally took the cutlass to the track, ran it on street tires, made 3 passes & threw 2 alt. belts, was shifting at 6800, other then not much traction i think she did pretty good. Best pass. 13.03 @ 107 on a sad 2.20 1st. pass was a 13.28 @ 104 on the same 2.20 was wanting a 12.8 but...

    Help me settle an argument

IMO, it all ddepends on the combo, heads/cam/gear/stall whether a 750 will pick it up, I say try one if you can borrow it, or get a PF mainbody & drop it on, I think it'll run stronger ET/MPH with a PF MB over the 650 even on a not so wild 360, so your buddy might be onto something. I ran 12.5s...

    power valves tuning

Sounds like you need to go to your local book store & pick up a holley perf. tuning book & read it, you'll be surprized what you'd learn, not trying to sound sarcastic, but from what your asking it sounds like you don't really understand how a carb works.

11 to 1 on pump gas

People on the web will say anything to make there ride shine trust me, the chevy guys will say the 406, the buick guys will say the 455, thats nature, now, i hope you don't think i mild GS430 buick is going to run low 11s, I've been around, i'm 48 yrs. old, i was there back when these cars were...

11 to 1 on pump gas

Can't compare a 68 to a 78, there 2 different animals, I've beat up on chevys to, but now that i'm running one, i have to talk the talk.:glasses7:

11 to 1 on pump gas

11 to 1 on pump gas

Even though your at sea level in Cal., the air is dryer, less chance for detination, but whatever the OP decides, its his engine, i personally would'nt be wanting 11.1 over 10.5 just for bragging rights & chance detination with diminishing returns do to lack of timing.

11 to 1 on pump gas

Whats the intake closeing point on that cam?
  17. J

11 to 1 on pump gas

10.5.1 is about pushing it with iron heads & pump gas, that extra .5 point won't yield you any more power, but the chances of detination are going to be there, i'd shoot for 10.3-10.4 with good quench & call it good, it'll work on pump premium & you'll be able to put alittle timing to it, if you...

  20. J

11 to 1 on pump gas

In houston your right at sea level, even with 93 octane you'll be hard pressed running it on 11.1 with iron heads, detination city, you'll need to pull way too much timing & you won't be happy with the perf., shoot for around 9.8 or there abouts with good quench, modern heart shaped combustion...

    piston help

Don't chance it! The force it took to fracture the lip effected the structure of that piston, I'm sure you can buy them 1 by 1, I'd like to know what United Engines tells you, i'm sure i know 8).

    piston help

I see where it chipped off, Its more then just a little peice, the squirt is the most important part of a piston, I wouldn't even fathem running that period, buy a new, heck a whole new set ain't but what 225.00 bucks, don't chance it, junk it.

    post you 1/8 mile combos

440 Intake for Full Race?? - Our Lil Red Express

It could just be the rings getting tired, I'd do a leakdown 1st., If it ran good before with this set-up, theres no way it can't run good again, just don't blame the TR, The weiand Street ram is one of the best for torque & drivability, Its a proven fact over just about any single set-up out...

    Spark plug reading?

NGKs are the easiest to read, Autolites not so much. Seeing the glaze on the porcelin those plugs overheated & are junk, trash them & go 1 step colder.

At what point would you suggest Aftermarket Axles.

Your not the only one having good luck with stock axles, I ran 10.9s with many 1.5 60fts for 2 yrs. & axles were just fine, I have seen guys slower then me twisting Moser axles, I don't think having slicks are the issue, Maybe DRs, Slicks have a softer launch as they wrinkle a bit, DRs hook...
