Looking at this 360 on Craigslist - Questions

Looks like your 10 minutes away from one of the best swap meets on earth. The next one in Pomona is August 9. I do have to say that it can be disappointing how little Mopar stuff makes it out there relative to others. But the shear size makes up for it. Get there before it opens.

Please check my check list- Mating/Installing motor and trans

It will be street driven, but no where close to daily. Maybe once a week. Mounts came with the project, so I'm gonna take a run at em. If its not working for me I'll swap them out.

Please check my check list- Mating/Installing motor and trans

Sorry to say that I wasn't able to get the motor and trans lined up well enough to mate them. Ran out of daylight, and my friends wife called him home. lol Have to say I learned a lot today though. It was close. I just need to get the motor to angle back a little more, and have the car a little...

Please check my check list- Mating/Installing motor and trans

Searched some more threads and its looking like the mount with a curve goes on the driver side. Also, looks like mounts go to the back of the ears on a 360.

Please check my check list- Mating/Installing motor and trans

Trying to get the answer to these last few questions. -Anybody know what the motor mounts should be torqued to? At mounts and block? At spacer and mounts? At spacer and frame? -Do the mounts bolt to the front edge or back edge of the ears on the block? -What side does the...

Please check my check list- Mating/Installing motor and trans

The motor won't get fired again (was on the dyno) for a couple more months. Still have to get the fuel and cooling systems installed and get her wired up. Its pretty bare bones at the moment. This is great advice for breaking in the trans though. I appreciate it.

Please check my check list- Mating/Installing motor and trans

Thanks for the feed back guys. Fortunately for me, the motor had about 8-10 runs on the dyno already. I knew 270 lbs sounded crazy. But yes it's 270 inch lbs not foot lbs. Thanks for pointing that out. Also, thanks for heads up on lubing the converter snout. Solid mounts came with the...

Please check my check list- Mating/Installing motor and trans

I'm a bit more concerned about getting the mounts in right. Do I mate both halves of each mount together, then bolt to motor, then to cross-member? Or, Lower half of mount to cross-member, upper half to motor, then mate the two halves? Do I leave everything loose until the trans is bolted...

Please check my check list- Mating/Installing motor and trans

Tomorrow I will finally be dropping in the 408 and 904. It has been 20 years since I've done this, so its like the first time. I've searched the forums and read the manual. I'm gonna make a short list of what needs to happen and the specs I came up with along with some pics. I would appreciate...

Drop in Motor first, or Steering box first?

Had a feeling it would be hard to get at. Thanks for the input. I would certainly be disappointed, its a new flaming River 16:1. I do appreciate the suggestion though.

Drop in Motor first, or Steering box first?

I have done a lot of disassembly on this car, and made some modifications, but now its time to get the major components installed. This will be my first time re assembling an A body. I know its basic advice, but is it easier to install the manual steering box then the 360? Or should I set the...

Help! High pressure at the Dyno

Thats my plan. To run 10-30. Thinking I might run the lighter stuff for 100 miles since we already changed the oil after the first 2 pulls.

Help! High pressure at the Dyno

Yesterday it was 2 small pulls to 3k on 20-50 oil. PSI at 100. Today, dropped oil to a 5 and made 6 more pulls that rolled out around 30 PSI and settled in at 75 to 80. Took it to 6,200 RPM. I think the motor was coming in a little tight and now looks good. I will switch weight when I get it in...

Help! High pressure at the Dyno

I am not well versed in this area, but I realize the existing pump may have an optional high pressure spring and think that may be the culprit. Don't know what weight they started with. Just got home and putting all the info together. Fixing to give them a call.

Help! High pressure at the Dyno

So, they fired it up and it hit 100psi at 3k. Builder, not original builder and did not assemble the bottom end, said we can pull it off and start by looking at the pump. Or, since we have it here, put in thinner oil and see if it holds steady or climbs very little up to 5k. I'm not there at the...
