    Taylor Wires

90* at the distributor and straight at the plugs always worked for me on my Dart Sport & Aspen. Header brand may affect clearance. I always used TTI. PM sent.

Can you repair 1973 up seatbelt warning light switches?

    Can't help with those. Sorry.

Can you repair 1973 up seatbelt warning light switches?

PM box is full. But I can check if I still have some. Just need a day or two to check. Flat thingy that fits between the seat foam and spring?

    74 Duster Fuse Box

It would be better to splice it into the ignition. When you turn the ignition on/of, it does the same with the fuel pump. You can always add a toggle switch to keep the pump off if ignition is turned on without needing to start the engine and/or as a theft deterrent.

Anybody have TIPM issues on your late model Mopar?

The TIPM, which is often referred to as the "fuse box", had a similar design, but with a slightly different name/abbreviation between 2003 and 2006 or so, on our trucks. I agree with others that the circuit boards under the fuses was a bad design, which allows above-average corrosion.

Anybody have TIPM issues on your late model Mopar?

Just got a rebuilt one for my 2004 dually, but haven't installed it yet. Wipers, brake controller, dash lights, alarm system, key fob door opener and probably a couple of other things I haven't noticed yet.

74 Plymouth Duster, what is this thing in the steering column?

Darn! I have a column, not sure if it's '74 or newer. But you're literally at the wrong corner of the country!

    Mallory Hyfire Ignition problem

It's a Mallory race only coil on my Dart Sport race car. Not a good idea to use one on a car seeing extended driving. Not particularly specific: https://static.summitracing.com/global/images/instructions/MAA-690.pdf As for something overheating & opening the circuit, it could be coil or...

    Mallory Hyfire Ignition problem

Sounds like something is getting hot, expands and opens the circuit. Cools off an it's good again. I've had a Hyfire-6al in my Dart for almost 20 years and it's still going strong. They do take specific coils.

    spark plug wires question

Companies make universal cut-to-fit wire sets that you can customize to your needs. The kits usually include a crimper to help assemble the distributor ends of the wires. Basically, you put the boot on, crimp the brass end on per instructions, and (lube a bit) pull the boot over it before...

MALLORY FTW! HOLLEY FTL! We need AMERICAN made again.

During MSD buying out Prestolite Performance (Mallory, Accell, Lakewood, etc.) and then Holley buying the MSD group, it's my understanding that Mallory has been discontinued as a brand. Certain items are relabeled MSD while others have been simply discontinued. Personally I love my Mallory...

    Lead acid batteries

Sears DieHard Platinums arre relabeled Odyssey batteries. They've been working well in my Dodge dually and race car! They are less expensive than the Odysseys. As for wheel bearings, the only solution is trying to find a better wheel bearing grease. Years ago I found an obvious difference on...

Ignition boxes - worth it for the effieciencies

I have a Mallory HyFire 6AL on my race car. Installed it about 10 years ago and haven't had any issues. Coil is on the inside of the firewall to keep it away from the heat. Billet Mallory distributor w/magnetic pick-up and Accel wires complete the package.

    AGM battery questions

Clamps are already soldered to the wires, so unless there are some broken wires in between, the issue may be internal. Interestingly, when the used batteries are fully charged, the malfunctioning old charger shows everything ok and goes into trickle charge!

    AGM battery questions

I guess this would be a good place to post this since it's all related. Don't trust the "smart" battery chargers that tell you to service or replace the battery. I have a Black & Decker 10 amp charger which has worked well charging between rounds and at home for a few years now. I went to...

    AGM battery questions

I've never had any corrosion/acid issues with an AGM battery. I've used Optima, Odyssey and DieHard. The DieHard Platinum are re-labeled Odyssey, but less expensive.

    Looking to get a Tach

I've used Autometer for as long as I can remember. They have a variety of playback tachs, from ones that can simply playback the rpm's to their top-of-the-line Ultimate series that also monitor driveshaft rpm, O2, fuel pressure or other such option. I learned a LOT just from the rpm playback at...

    Starter Clearance Issues

I believe that there may be different starter castings. I had that problem once many years ago and ground the block and starter. Unfortunately, I don't recall anything about the starter. I haven't had a problem before or since then with other 360/904 combinations. I believe that the room the...

    battery suggestions?

FWIW, I've always used a 10 amp automatic taper charger at the race track and also at home. My race car has a 50 amp alternator, as the rules require, but I charge the battery between rounds to keep it topped off. Besides the usual ignition and lighting, it has an electric fuel pump as well as...

    battery suggestions?

Odyssey has good batteries, rather expensive, but Sears Platinum DieHards are manufactured by Odyssey and relabeled for Sears. They go on sale periodically, regular and Marine versions, but are less expensive even at the regular price.

    Plug Wires

Any type of plug wires degrade over time and can eventually "leak". Heat, fuel, oil, humidity, etc. affect everything - including radiator hoses, belts, etc. Thicker wires tend to have more insulation and should last longer. I've been using Accel 8.8 plug wires for years with a Mallory HyFire VI...

    What do I need?

I put a Mallory system on my race car many years ago and basically haven't touched it, beside a loose distributor/box connector and regular cap/rotor mantenance. It's a Mallory VI-AL analog w/rev limiter, 3257911 full mechanical distributor and Mallory (forgot #) coil. But they have a good...

I won't buy another lead/acid battery if I can help it. I've used Optima with good results. But lately I've bought Odyssey and Sears Die-Hard Platinum batteries.
