Magnum oil filter block plate - source?

This is a good call. The mating surface looked clean from what I could see from beneath/behind the front wheel with a spot light.

Magnum oil filter block plate - source?

I picked up some permatex black gasket sealer, coated the gasket and gave it another go. It’s still absolutely pissing oil. I noticed that the plate may be damaged…not only is the mating surface a bit wavy, it appears to be lopsided. Does this look wrong?

Magnum oil filter block plate - source?

I can’t quite see the casting info with the headers on. I wish I took a picture before I put it in the car. If necessary, I’ll unbolt the driver’s side and take a look. I do know that the block is a Magnum 5.9.

Magnum oil filter block plate - source?

Thanks to all for the input! I was able to obtain one…I installed it carefully with no difficulty, fired up the engine, saw no oil pressure issues, backed out of the garage, drove a few hundred feet down the road and noticed that I was leaving a STREAM of oil behind!!! Obviously, I headed...

Magnum oil filter block plate - source?

Mancini Racing just told me that these things were out of production and no longer available...and honestly, the price seemed a bit ridiculous anyway. Can anyone share a source for these? https://www.manciniracing.com/maraenoilfib.html

    Cam install

There's a time to not sweat the small stuff and there is a time when the small stuff is the whole point. IMO, if half the point of this project is to learn it only makes sense to do it right. Despite the hundreds and hundreds of hours I've spent wrenching on my Dart, I've never done a cam...

New SFI magnum Flex plate coming soon.

Has the flex plate ever been a weak link here? This sounds like a problem that I didn’t even know that I needed to worry about.

Stock heads/rotating assembly, hot cam/vlave springs- how far can you go?

I totally agree! Not being able to drive this car after all I went through to get it back on the road would really hurt. I'm glad to hear that you're getting to drive that 1979 Magnum. It sounds like you're in a similar spot with that car. Compared to a lot of the cars that we talk about in...

Stock heads/rotating assembly, hot cam/vlave springs- how far can you go?

Ripping around on gravel roads sounds like an absolute blast. I'm with you on pulling it back a bit where the consequences of a mistake get scary...I'm definitely not braver than you. I know my limits and the limits of the car and that has always kept me safe (so far!) but I'm no professional...

Stock heads/rotating assembly, hot cam/vlave springs- how far can you go?

I guess the question for me is whether or not the Eddy Airgap is worth spending the $300ish compared with the Mopar dual plane that I already have. I had been under the impression that the M2 manifold was nearly as good as the Edelbrock but please correct me if I'm wrong...

Stock heads/rotating assembly, hot cam/vlave springs- how far can you go?

Thanks to everybody! rumblefish360, you've come through with great answers to my questions many times. It's always extremely appreciated. Thank you. Very good points about the limitations of the heads and the sacrifices in the low end in favor of higher rpm performance...that is all...

Stock heads/rotating assembly, hot cam/vlave springs- how far can you go?

I realize that I've got three questions running at once on this forum. One on FI, one on head swap and now this...but they are pretty distinct topics and searches didn't quite answer all of my questions. Personally, it looks like I'm going to have to save up for a while longer to do the heads...

Total "bill of material" for Aluminum head swap / Advice on where to save $ welcome...

Good point. It's understandable that they wouldn't cover people adding boost to a motor...but their use of "racing application" seems to be open enough to interpretation. Honestly, if I blew up a motor by doing something stupid, I wouldn't try to get someone else to pay for it...but if the...

Total "bill of material" for Aluminum head swap / Advice on where to save $ welcome...

Great info here. Thanks! Use of the engine is general hooligan driving. Motor aside, the car is built to be as well-rounded as possible with suspension/brake upgrades, weight reduction and chassis mods. I'm really interested in a responsive motor that makes mid-400s and pulls to (or close...

Total "bill of material" for Aluminum head swap / Advice on where to save $ welcome...

Yeah... Every time I embark on a project with this car, I learn a ton and bond with the car even more. I've already done the engine swap job so that work would actually be a bit boring. Installing new heads would be new to me...but the value of a dyno tested/guaranteed stroked small block is...

This is what I have as a BOM for an aluminum head upgrade...I'm leaning toward the new Trickflow heads as I'm under the impression that the Edelbrock castings really need to be cleaned up before they can be used which adds time and wipes out the price difference... I have to be honest that I...

Aftermarket EFI on a Magnum- your experience??

What is the difference with the Terminator system? Does it not come with its own ECU like the Sniper and other systems? I'll have to look that one up. What's "it"? The Terminator? The stock Magnum FI?

Aftermarket EFI on a Magnum- your experience??

I believe that plenty of the systems will work. Just fine. FiTech, Holley Sniper etc. use a throttlebody with a standard four barrel (or two barrel) carb bolt pattern. The sensor inputs are all compatible of course. It's just the Edelbrock Pro Flow 4 that comes with it's own manifold (with...

Aftermarket EFI on a Magnum- your experience??

Which system did you use? How did it work out? Would you do it again? I was pretty psyched about the Edelbrock Pro Flow 4 but they're not available for our Magnums (LA small blocks only).

Cure for lazy Magnum...Has anyone built a Magnum for 7k+ revs?

Excellent points. There are other variables that matter here but ultimately, that all makes sense to me. As someone who owns a turbo Subaru as a daily driver I can confirm that it's still just an also-ran-4-banger. It's as quick as the Dart (similar weight, similar power, way better traction...

Excellent information and thoughts all around, guys. @rumblefish360 , you're the best, sir. Tons of great info points there. I'm looking into those pistons...do you think the stock crank and rods are up to the job? The engine is a relatively fresh (~15k miles) stock Magnum 300. Stock cam...

Cure for lazy Magnum...Has anyone built a Magnum for 7k+ revs?

Just tossing this around in my head this morning...looking for your thoughts and opinions here. So I have to say it; I find the Magnum 5.9L to be pretty uninspiring in stock form.
