Stock 73+ BBP/disk master cylinder ok with Ford Exploder REAR disks?

I’ll start by saying that I’ve put about 5000 miles on my car with this setup and I can report that it certainly works…but to this point, I’ve never really stressed the braking system with an emergency stop or a hi temp scenario. Im replacing the MC this winter and I have a fresh stock one...

Well done...and damn, those cop wheels/hub caps look great on there. Any additional pictures would be welcome.

Reviving an old thread... Do folks still stick with EBC red for OEM front disks?

new rear disks, need more "bite" - any suggestions?

Thanks, guys. Yeah, the rear drum lockup was a nasty trait of our cars. IIRC, it was a pretty consistent problem for '73+ front disk cars. Right after experiencing this for the first time (as an 18 year old in the 1990s) I felt so vindicated when I read a complaint about this exact problem in...

new rear disks, need more "bite" - any suggestions?

My car is a non-power disk brake car. While I know what comes along with non power brakes, something still doesn't fell quite right as it sits. Along with my 8.75" axle, I went with Ford Exploder rear disks. I also replaced the front rotors, calipers, flexible lines, all with OEM style...

Clamps for connecting parking brake cables?

So I am going to pick up a swage tool and do this properly but in the mean time, I am finding that standard/small cable clamps seem to be up o the task (at least for a temporary fix until my tool budget recovers). Yes, wheel-curbing, wheel chocks will be used rigorously in the meantime as I...

440 in 73 Dart Sport, Convert to Manual Brakes?

I agree with the suggestion of Mancini Racing. They seem to be the universal go-to butt savers for Mopar guys. As for switching to manual brakes...I get why the space will be critical with the big block swap...but nothing like adding ~200lbs to the front of the car and suddenly needing 3x the...

Clamps for connecting parking brake cables?

Thanks again, guys. Yep. I'm going to learn how to swage. It doesn't seem too difficult but without the tool, it's murder on your teeth. :)

Clamps for connecting parking brake cables?

Do you guys really not use your parking brakes? The only time I deliberately don’t used them is when the car will be sitting for long periods...On perfectly flat surfaces. It’s just a good habit, IMO.

Clamps for connecting parking brake cables?

Thanks for all of the input here, guys! The deal is that the new disks with internal parking brake (Ford Exploder pieces) don’t have the ball ends on the cables. They’ll need to be cut to length...so I’m looking for the easiest/reliable way to connect the stock cables to the new ones. What’s...

Clamps for connecting parking brake cables?

So...this is a good question. Is this not considered safe for some reason?

Clamps for connecting parking brake cables?

Is there hardware for permanently connecting parking brake cables? Lokar has these cool block clamps tht are useful for making linkage from scratch...and these blocks with set screws are sort of what I have in mind but I’d want the cables to be end to end so the vector of the pull was...

Before I break something: any tips on body to rear axle brake line connector removal?

Just an update- Success! Nothing broke. I think it was the heat that did the trick. Thanks to all for the input and advice. I'm still an absolute rookie mechanic but thanks largely to this forum, I'm getting through this stuff with minimal breakage and learning a ton in the process. I'm a lot...

Before I break something: any tips on body to rear axle brake line connector removal?

Thanks to all for the tips, guys! Ok...So I hope that two days of soaking in the penetrating oil will make that clip easier to see. I'll hit it with the little torch (with the fire extinguisher near by) and give it a shot. I've got a pack of birthday candles on hand too. :D Brian, you're...

Before I break something: any tips on body to rear axle brake line connector removal?

I've thought about this but the thought of setting brake fluid on fire isn't a comforting thought. How much heat can you apply?

Before I break something: any tips on body to rear axle brake line connector removal?

I'm all set to mount up my fresh rear axle assembly. I received some good tips from this form (thanks again) on replacing the junction box/brake line connector that mounts on the axle housing (along with the vented bolt). Thanks again for that info. :D So the original flex line that connects...

Stock rear brake distribution block -- also vent for axle?

Thanks to all. Just looking at pictures, it almost seems like the flexible section of the brake line that comes from the body of the car is permanently affixed to these blocks. Is that right? If so, is this a maintenance/replacement part?

Stock rear brake distribution block -- also vent for axle?

Just checking on this- Does the stock brake distribution block that is bolted to the rear axle on the driver's side also serve as the vent for the axle? I believe I heard that this was the case but if not, is there a part that would accomplish this? Thanks!!

Front disk brake(s) sticking- where to start toubleshooting?

Thanks, guys! Some great suggestions on how to get started... This car is an original disk brake/non power car. Master cylinder is original as far as I know. The pedal hang feels more like fluid pressure than linkage. It loses travel and feels harder under foot.

Front disk brake(s) sticking- where to start toubleshooting?

My project has been subject to long starts and stops. A couple years back, I replaced the calipers, rotors, wheel bearings and flexible lines on my Dart's front brakes. I used OEM replacement parts. There's honestly not a lot that can go wrong with this job...but I didn't get around to...

Thanks, Bad Sport! Great info. I do indeed have the copper washers for the flex lines. The calipers are probably not too expensive...probably shoudln't worry about them...but it would be nice to save them! Budget is extremely tight as always. Any tips on the lip seals? I haven't...

Hey, guys! Next project is to refresh the stock front disk brakes on my 'Sport. I'm desperately hoping that the original calipers can be saved...what are the odds? Sitting on the bench, I have fresh rotors, pads, flexible lines (the ones on the car are almost certainly the...

'73 needs new pads, rotors, flexible lines- best one-stop shop?

LOL... thanks, guys. I'm going to try the local shop as you suggested! Come to think of it, the owner has a beautiful blue 1967 Barracuda (as well as a nicely preserved Ferrari 308)...so I'm not sure If I'll get the same satisfaction out of part-number-jeopardy that you guys did! :D

Hey, guys! 1973 Dart Sport front disk job is on tap. :D I need parts as listed above- pads, rotors, flexible lines...hoping the calipers are ok. Can anyone reccomend a source for all of these parts? What type of fluid is appropriate for the system (non boosted)? Thanks for any help!
