    Tire size questions

BFG are okay if you can find them. Cooper Cobra are crap tires - they just come in popular sizes for our vehicles. I'd lean toward the 255/60R15 personally. You could ask Cu440da what size he runs on his Warlock - if he still comes around this site. I think he uses different sizes front and rear...

    using tubes as wheel spacers?

My initial thought was - are you insane? Then I thought about it and I came to the new thought - are you insane? The longer studs with the wheel mounted at the end is an invitation to snap off. And a tube to space it out? I work in a shop and hate all spacers, but if you aren't going to do the...

    '73 Cuda Center acorns.

You want me to criticize them? Well, okay ..... :-) Sorry but I can't. I like the wheels. Tough call. I might paint them to match the wheel. Otherwise I vote argent.

Another wheel and tire question ( yes i searched the forum)

I am somewhat of a wheel guy, but not THAT good. I think not though. I have a local wheel guy IO call and he helps me out. If you can't find a local guy, let me know and I'll pass on his work number. He can likely answer all your questions.

Another wheel and tire question ( yes i searched the forum)

I went to Right Stuff rear disc on a Dana 60 and my old wheels no longer fit . I had to buy whatever was available in town that day. This is what I got, though I wanted 15", not 17". By the way, it is a 73 Dart Sport. The wheels look great and fit great. Rears: PACER 177C 15 x 8 WHEEL - -22...

    TPS monitors

Seven years old - battery died most likely. We install them in my shop for $79.99 including install and program. No need to buy OE, find a place with generic sensors that they program on the car. With an Autel scanner it's programmed in less than a minute. By the way, you can't replace the...

Taller or shorter tires for the track?

It's right in front of me, left center. I could try watching, just a lot of room for error at full acceleration or 100 mph plus. I usually hit the traps at 114 or so. I'm hoping for better launches tomorrow. My line locks won't hold, so I was power braking last year and it made a big difference...

Taller or shorter tires for the track?

I have experimented with shifting. I tried shifting sooner to take advantage of torque at lower rpms, but in the end it seems to get the best times when I shift instinctively. It's hard to watch the tach when you're hammering down the track anyway.

Taller or shorter tires for the track?

Peak horsepower is 5900 rpm. Peak torque around 3900 - 4300 rpm. Never looked to see what the rpm was at the traps. I have never done rpm shift testing. Don't even know what that is.

Taller or shorter tires for the track?

The widths are not the same. 255 and 275, and the height is relative to the width. the taller tire will definitely have a bigger footprint. Though what that has to do with my 1/4 mile times, I don't understand. The shorter tires never spin - they hook perfectly until the track conditions...

Taller or shorter tires for the track?

I run low 12's now with the MT. I am definitely going to try them both, but I figured someone must have done this at sometime. 408 stroker - 500hp, 200-4R transmission, though it never gets into overdrive on the track. I just had the transmission rebuilt and I went with a higher stall converter...

Taller or shorter tires for the track?

I am hitting the track this Sunday. I usually switch to P255/60R15 Mickey Thompson ET street radials. They are 27.01" tall. They hook very well. I typically drove on BFG Radial TA on the street, but this year I went to Nitto NT555R extreme drag radials for every day tires and they hook well on...

    255/60 Tires

I run p255/60R15 at the track in MT ET Street Radials. Normally I run a P295/50R15 daily, but this year I went to P275/60R15 Nitto's/

    Need tire advice: drag radials

I have run Mickey Thompson ET Street at the track and BFG Radial TA on the street. This year I went to Nitto NT555R Extreme Drag Radial for the street. They hook up unbelievably well. Better than the Mickeys on the street. This year I'm not going to change tires at the track and am going to run...

Running Nitto NT555R extreme drag radials - love 'em!

Mine only get wet if the weather guys screw up the forecast, so about four times a year I get caught in rain. I'm glad to see 8000 miles. I burn out a lot, but run different tires at the track, so 8000 miles a year is a little more than I normally drive. If I got a year out of these tires I was...

Running Nitto NT555R extreme drag radials - love 'em!

That's why I went with the particular Nitto tires I chose. They were available in the size I wanted. To the wheel hop guys, I have only burned out on these once when leaving the shop. I did a rolling burnout at about 20 mph and got no hop at all. It was very similar to my old BFG's. I have...

Running Nitto NT555R extreme drag radials - love 'em!

When I put in the Dana 60 the first year I put on Pacer wheels and have been running BFG Radial TA in P295/50R15 in the rear because they had the size I wanted and they looked good. I smoke the tires a lot and they hold up the whole season, and usually two seasons. They don't hook up though, and...

    No Wheel Weights!???

Every tire company has that. Most tire guys these days have no idea what it's for, but old dogs like me line them up with the valve stem for optimal balance. I have seen tires take no weights, but it's rare, and I know damn well two on the same car is never going to happen. Glad they took...

    Tire Time

I work in a shop and sell tires. Cooper does not make the BFG. The Cooper tires, while good for the price, always turned me off with the looks of that little Cobra snake. You will get a lot of use out of your BFG's. Let's see some pics!

    Tire Time

BFG is slowly discontinuing the Radial TA. I run them in a P295/50R15 on my car and the last set lasted two full years. I burn the hell out of them and they never wear out. That is the big plus. The downside is they don't hook up well and weigh a ton more than the Nitto NT555R I am going to this...

Best wheel that looks good and is straight and true?

I road force balanced them. The wheels are no longer true. My drag radials on the steel wheels were smooth as a baby's butt. It's my daily driver rims that are giving me trouble.

Best wheel that looks good and is straight and true?

All right. I've had this conversation before but never got much in the way of suggestions. I'll give a little back story, but I am looking for light, strong and true wheels. I love the Weld Draglites. Two of them with tires weigh less than one of my wheels and tires. I need them to be straight...

    Anyone tried these wheels?

I run four wheel disc brakes on my Dart and have 15" wheels. I don't know about this particular brand. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you like the look and they fit, I say buy them. It's only money. You'll make more.

Best reasonably priced wheels that are true

The 4.5 backspace, -22 offset is what I use on the rear, and about a 3.5 backspace -13 offset on the front. I like the look of those JD wheels, too. I just have never heard of them, and I love the price. Oh, and no wheelies .... yet. I'm working on that.
