    Flywheel questions...

To update and effectively close out this thread, I ended up using an 01-04 manual transmission bellhousing, flywheel, engine/transmission spacer plate and a 2005 starter (minor electrical connection differences from what I can tell). All parts are from a Jeep Liberty with a 3.7L (2x4 or 4x4...

Manual or power rack for 3G hemi

What pump are you running? I've read that the GPM and not the psi is what results in a twitchy rack. Apparently the Mustang racks out of the Alter-K are meant for 700-800 and no more than 1000 psi, there were later mustang racks that were built stronger for 1350 psi but I don't believe Bill uses...

Eagle fuel rails on earlier hemi?

Just to answer this question for other in the future, they do not fit. Despite the mount locations being the same, the actual mounts are lower on the 09+ rails, meaning the rails sit on top of the mounts and the injectors don't fully seat into the manifold. On the old rails, the mounts go over...

    Cam options

Thanks man, great info. I've read a lot of recommendations of the Comp 268 cam. Did you change pushrods or valve springs? Cool to see another 200-4R on the board here. Any MPG numbers? What's your cruise rpm and tire height?

please help me with a shopping list? lol

Tincup had a custom radiator made by Northern (solid oem type manufacturer) for his build way back. My take is they took his measurements and made a standard production piece from it, which is now sold by a variety of vendors. Northern part # 205199, universal parts gives it their own part #...

    Cam options

I've decided I'm going to do a cam swap before I put the motor in "permanently"... The question is who and why? Chassis is a 66 Dart. Stock 05 5.7 engine, will be run by megasquirt. 6.1 jeep exhaust manifolds. Don't care about lope, sleeper kind of build. Mainly want big, flat torque curve...

Eagle fuel rails on earlier hemi?

Anyone know if the eagle fuel rails and injectors will fit on the 03-08 manifold?

    Wiring help

topslcuda is providing me an 06 LX service manual to chase the wires on this connector. Like I already asked him, I'm trying to understand why the pinouts I was referencing, for a 2004 Ram, say that injectors and coils 7/8 are on NGC module C1, when on my harness they appear to connect to this...

    Wiring help

Can anyone identify what this connector is? I need to find a pinout... Working on stripping and tagging my factory harness to convert to the microsquirt I just ordered. Now here's the catch, I don't know what body or year my harness is from except to say it is from an 03-05 as it has the older 2...

    Milodon 31000, anyone have it?

Yes, milodon's standard mid-sump catch-all. Realwing referred me to this thread... didn't specifically say avoid it, my words. Thanks man, I think I'm gonna go that route, cost is the biggest factor right now in this build so the cheap truck pan is probably my safest bet.

    Milodon 31000, anyone have it?

Thanks, it looks like that's the direction I'm stuck going. Realwing gave me the "stay away" warning with the Milodon pan, so it's a rear sump, either the truck or jeep, probably truck... I'm on the KC side of the state by the way, but good to see somebody else out here in the midwest.

    Milodon 31000, anyone have it?

topslcuda, I'm leaning pretty hard towards the truck pan even if this pan will fit because it's definitely not cheap. My main concern is ground clearance, my trans pan will probably be much lower anyhow. Any pictures or measurements of your setup? Thanks, Ryan

    Milodon 31000, anyone have it?

Can anyone with this pan tell me (or show, pictures greatly appreciated) how deep the front of the pan is (around 3-4 inches back) and how far back from the front the sump starts? I have a '66 Dart with an Alterktion and power rack I need to find a mid sump pan for. Thanks, Ryan

    Oil pan dimensions

Jim, Is that at the very front? I know that the pan angles down as it travels back to the center sump and I'm just wondering how deep it is a little further back where the rack is actually at, maybe even how deep it is when it hits the sump. Thanks again, Ryan

    throttle valve cable geometry

I've been accused of worse things, but yes, I am definitely thinking it through. Like I mentioned above, it would be a mighty shame to pay thousands of dollars for a well built transmission and have my linkage be the downfall. Your swap sounds quite interesting, you should post pictures of how...

    Oil pan dimensions

I had considered the jeep pan before. If I had to run a rear sump I think the steel truck pan looks slightly shallower in the back (probably just my eyes) and is cheaper as well as probably weighs less than the big cast monster that jeep pan is. However, I'm still hoping someone can get me the...

    Oil pan dimensions

Yeah, I'll admit it's second hand knowledge from another member on this website but to be honest I don't admire that pan all that much as is. It's a basic aluminum square that isn't even trimmed to match the pan rail. It just looks cheaply thought out when you consider it's $500+ for an oil pan...

    throttle valve cable geometry

That was one of my ideas, to grind a slot back into the throttle body. I'm still exploring all of the options but the FAST adapter with a 92mm ebay throttle body like this seems to be the cheapest, best performing solution. I really like the bracket you made for holding the cables on the...

    Oil pan dimensions

No Jim, I haven't talked to Bill recently. I know the Milodon pan is supposed to fit our early a bodies but it didn't fit (pan was resting on the rack with no gasket) in Tincup's build with a manual rack which is even smaller than the power rack of course. I am curious how deep the Milodon pan...

    Oil pan dimensions

Jim, It's a 1966 Dart, Alterk front suspension. I know the Milodon pan tends to fit the B and E bodies and even the later A bodies, for whatever reason, the engine appears to sit lower in our early A's. Thanks for the tip on that tube, I figured it must've been something like that, didn't...

    throttle valve cable geometry

Unfortunately none of the modern transmissions are a "compact choice" when you start comparing them to the early a-body tunnels and the 904/727 tailshaft. The first image below explains what I mean about the stock LS1 throttle body and how the IAC ports back into the manifold instead of down...

    throttle valve cable geometry

I never said there was anything wrong with the NAG1, I said it wasn't right for my application. I don't personally think it's the best transmission for swap applications, but yes, it can be made to work. Just like any other transmission can be made to work, it's all in what you're trying to...

    Oil pan dimensions

I'm looking for oil pan dimensions for aftermarket and factory 3rd gen hemi pans. The main dimensions I am interested is the depth from the pan rail at the front where my power steering rack will be and the total depth of the sump or lowest point. I only have about 1.75-2" room between the rack...

    throttle valve cable geometry

Joe, Thanks for the response, I had really started to think this forum had died or something. Fast does have a bracket made by Comp to adapt their 92mm big mouth throttle body to a 5.7 hemi. In further research, I have noticed the 3 bolt style original LS1 throttle bodies have an IAC hole...
