    opinions on a 340 build

Thx Rob, No head work done just pushrod clearance for the 1.6 rockers. The headers belonged to the shop, 1-3/4headers into a 3-1/2 collector. Joe

    opinions on a 340 build

I just had a Stroker built out of a 72' 340 and my block was standard bore, they went .03 over and I don't think they did a sonic on it. I think as long as you aren't going .6 over you should be fine IMHO. Cheers and good luck. I love strokers!

    416 compression advice

I've pretty much decided EFI, would you go dual plane Edelbrock performer? I'm not carb savvy so I probably would be constantly taking it to someone for tuning.

    416 compression advice

Hi All, I'm in the process of having a 340 stroked to a 416 and I am wondering on what compression ratio would be safe for my application? I am putting a Eagle forged bottom end, H-beam rods, Mahle pistons with a hughes roller cam 242/246 @ .050 and would like to make it a daily driver. I...

    Building a 408/416 stroker

Expect to spend upwards of $12,000+ to build a 550hp smallblock. At least in Canada. As mentioned earlier for the iron heads to flow and perform as well as the alloys, unless you want all stock look, you are better off going with some Eddys. I'm at $10,000 with my 416 so far and that is just for...

    340 Block work

I was planning on 10:1 compression so I can run it on pump gas, This is not going to be a budget build though. I'm hoping I can make between 400-430hp if I can and still be streetable. I should probably do the full meal deal then, Decked, Bore and Align hone.

    340 Block work

Hi all, I have aquired a 340 engine that I want to turn into a 416 Stroker, I'm wondering if I need an align hone because I will be putting in a new crank? Also, should I have the decks trued?? Thanks all. Joe

    340 Max Bore

Hi All, I'm looking for a 340 motor for my 72' Demon. I am wondering what the max you can bore a 340 is? I've heard .040 and both these have been done to .060. Here is a description of the motors which would be the better if I can do a straight trade? #1. asking price $3000 340 dodge...

    340 changes

Thanks guys, will probably go with eddy heads anyways but keep the original if I buy it. He's actually asking a reasonable(IMO) $1300 CAD for the complete motor, and four speed tranny. That will make my Demon date correct but mine was an auto originally. The block stamp is 71' he said, but I'll...

    340 changes

Anyone know what changes were done to the 340 in 72' to bring the compression down to 8.5?? I am looking at getting a 72' 340 for my 340 Demon and was wondering what I would need to do to it to get it up to pre 72' power. Also did the cranks change from forged to cast?? Thanks for any tips in...
