Upgrade for '70 Swinger 340 rear

The ''mostly street'' and ''stock looking'' is the hard part. The rear springs and caltrac type bars would be a nice addition. If your street driving is just local, you could tackle it with small T-bars and some adjustable shocks although it will be a little different handling wise. The bars...

    1970 duster super stock springs

I love them, especially if your looking to hotrod your car. The fact that you ask about ride quality.....well you might just look into a replacement type spring. A 70' from many moons ago.....

    ride height problem

I assume you're looking to set your Dart with a BB in the stock location? This might be off the wall for what you're looking for, but with a "modified" street car, suspension/tire size, I just set the front end height to what worked and was visually pleasing to me, and just had my alignment...

Cuda sits to high after PST Torsion bar install

Andre, that's beautiful work you've done so far, and while I'm no pro touring suspension guy by any means, I can't fathom the amount of work that will be required on those fenders with another 5/600lbs planted on that front end? I actually think you'll need to jack those bars way up to keep what...

    another coil over question

I know John (Dillengers) hasn't been around for a while. I think he had to focus on some other business/family issues for a while. Too bad he's not still here. The kit you linked to looks very nice. I admit I've never used a setup like that on a Mopar, and it may very well be a solid...

    Home Made Sub Frame Connectors

Only one I've ever done myself was 2x3 thru floors with outriggers to mount a 8 point bar. I wish I had pics, but it was from a 86' Fox body Stang in the early 90's. These cars are actually very similar in this regard, and that design in my opinion is superior to bolt in's when using a bar/cage...

    Dart Rearend

I'm guessing a 73' with a original 7.25 was likely a /6 or a teen with front drums. I thought those used a small bolt pattern, but frt. disk cars were the 4.5" pattern? I always get so confused about these 73 up cars...lol. I guess we need to hear from the OP to see what they really have now?

    Dart Rearend

Good reminder about the bolt pattern Ken.....That actually slipped my mind.

    Dart Rearend

I agree with the A body 8.25 from a cost & bolt in standpoint, as long as gear ratio isn't a priority.....meaning just a driver? You'd be lucky to find, in a reasonable amount of time, a used 3.21 geared 8.25, especially with a sure grip. If two series gears are cool with you, that's what I'd...

    Rear ride height

twayne, how does the car sit now.....lower in the rear? level? a little rake? not enough for tire clearance? or you just want more lift for looks? My opinion, along with a few others, is that if the shocks are dictating ride height, you have or previously had the wrong length shocks for your...

Clamping the front of the springs?

My choice of the SS springs was a personal decision for what I'd do. To me, cars like this will rarely be a real "comfortable" riding driver regardless of the spring used. Just looking at your engine combo leads me right to the best "hooking" leaf springs that are available to go in a light car...

Clamping the front of the springs?

If I'm reading this correctly, although it sounds like more street/cruising use then the track, i'd still go with the SS springs vs the XHD's. That's a big powered car and I'd install them as is and get a feel for how they work with your combo before clamping...or unclamping anything at first...

    Shock Help

Howdy Rodney. :D Those numbers reflect the valving on the shocks as far as extension and compression. A 50/50 number will indicate equal control in both directions. Now to use the 90/10 example, the 90 means it will easily extend & the 10 means it will be harder to compress. Using a drag...

    Air shocks?

Welcome to FABO Zach!!!:D Are the current "air shocks" there for tire clearance or just ride height...the raked look? I'd love to see a pic of your car if it's possible and you have the time and the ability to post one...

    SS springs

If I'm reading your thoughts right, don't use the SS springs. I can see at least a 1.5/2.0" block needed to get the stance you want. Once you get to that point, the springs hang so low, it's just ugly. I'm sure some of the members with similar type setups will chime in with a good spring...

What over the counter shocks to use with SS springs?

Back in the day, many moon's ago, we ran 60's Imperial shocks for the extra length. Times have surely changed....lol. I'm curious to see the newer good stuff also?

Is there a way to widen a rear end housing?

More then likely...yes ^^^^^^^^^^. What suspension is in the car? That would help us decide on a replacement, and what the current housing would possibly fit in, if you choose to sell it.

ladder bars and spool on street

I'm glad you have the SureGrip on the shelf. Unless it's very limited street use, I have a sneaky suspicion it's gonna find it's way in there. I can take way more then most when it comes to driving a race car on the street, 1400 idle, always neutraling, harsh noisy rear suspension, drowning...

    Wheel hop

With 500 lbs.ft. and a stick, i'm not surprised your having a few issues, especially if your still on the 40 yr. old springs. I agree with "Loco" as far as springs and shocks and while i'm not a big fan of relying on a snubber, with a 4spd, it can help with the initial hit. The main goal is to...

    Air shocks..why?

I never had any problem with them either, on Mopars and a few other brands. Reason i said no was because of the use of his new SS springs.
