    steering shaft coupler clamp

Two things about the Steer and Gear boot 1) You have to disassemble the bottom of the steering column. Remove the coupler and hardware then drive the pin out. Then you can put the boot on. Then reassemble everything. I put one on my Charger and that's how it has to go on. 2) I hear it does not...

    DIY Alignment?

So, I figure the car must be level. My car is in my garage that has the floors that have a slight slope towards the drain. How much is this going to affect my readings using any of the equipment you guys are suggesting?

    DIY Alignment?

I have a few cars. The idea of DIY was so that I don't need to haul cars to the someone else's garage too much. Also, the "old time alignment guys" are retiring or getting harder to find. There is a thread a little further down where their car wasn't aligned correctly at the alignment shop. I'm...

    DIY Alignment?

It would give me a reason to hit the beach one more time this year but I don't think there would anything left of a new set of 17" tires by the time I got there. 67Dart273-I'll take a look for some used stuff too. I never tried my hand at aligning a car and would probably be lost trying to...

    DIY Alignment?

It seems like it's getting harder to find alignment shops that can/will align a car to anything other than what their computer says it should be. I saw a commercial for DIY car alignment equipment. It looks like it would make aligning your car to your own specs a breeze. Does anyone have...

    Addco front swabar

Shotgun, this is a battle I'm having now. The original mounting method really sucks. I don't see how it's possible for the Addco setup to work even marginally. My bar would have extreme angles on the end links. Not a good design. Is this something you sell?

    New Suspension woes-Bilstein and Addco

If they are double sealed I'm relieved and think they will hold up well. As far as the ADDCO bar goes-a little research here on FABO shows that I will be making my own bar mounts. Apparently the "one size fits all" jury-rigged mounting doesn't actually fit all.

    New Suspension woes-Bilstein and Addco

William-I have the lower control arms hanging but jacked up to near-ride height. Maybe I'm not close enough to ride height. Redfish-I got that covered. I'm using the brackets mounted to the shock bolts. Swinger340Canuc-I thought maybe they just forgot to put them in the box. I guess not. Did you...

    New Suspension woes-Bilstein and Addco

I'm trying to get the front suspension wrapped up for cruising season. Imagine my surprise when I open the Bilstein shock boxes to find the front shocks don't come with dust covers. The instructions say to remove the dust cover from my old shocks and reuse them. The old cheap shocks steel dust...

strut rod and torsion bar question

coffeedart67-Am I reading this correct? Your tires are 20 years old? I had a '70 Challenger that only saw about 1000 miles a year and the tires looked fine after about 12 years. I had many people tell me how unsafe they were because of their age. I was told tires degraded with age and could...

Anyone use these "redesigned" coupler kits by Steer and Gear?

I put one on my restored '69 Charger steering column. I have monkeyed with the original style a few times on different cars and was looking for an alternative. I cant say how well it holds up because the steering column is sitting on the shelf. I can say it's a nice snug fit. It goes on the...

    Factory ride height?

Thanks for the advice. I want to baseline the car now and try to get the same height when I'm done. The PST have the torsion bar hexes clocked differently thus lowering the car when installed correctly. My concern is the back end being jacked up from stiffer HD springs or the front being...

    Factory ride height?

I'm in the process of a disc brake swap along with a suspension rebuild/upgrade. I like the way my car sits now. I think it's a little lower than stock. I took ride height measurements before I started the project. I measured from the floor to the top center of the wheel openings front and rear...

Torsion Bar Advice / Discount Codes Needed

How about PST? According to a recent post they have the 1.03 bars back in stock. They are in the vendor forum section and offer a 10% discount to FABO members. http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=172665

Strut rod washers.... correct way to use.

Just a thought about this...I remember my '69 Charger had the washers concave toward the bushing but the replacement bushings had the washers marked to be installed opposite this. The original washers were fairly flat with a slight curvature. The replacement washers had the more pronounced angle...
