    Since you mentioned rust I would use Rustoleum on it. I typically like to use high gloss enamel. Enamel takes longer to cure but it is fairly tough. Good Luck

    Put a shift kit in, replace the filter, adjust bands and use type F or FA atf.

    I use Valvoline ATF type FA 8) I`ve been using it in my TF for over 20 years and never had a problem and I get firm shifts. I passed on the 5:0-1 lever.

    Could be depending on if the motor is internally or externally balanced.
