    V8 (5.2) swapping a van

Those conversion vans (with the plush interior/seat that turns into a bed/curtains over the windows) are awesome road trip vehicles! My friend use to have a 90s gmc with the 4.3 v6 and it was the most comfortable thing to cruise in. Also if you pull the seats inside, the room for loading stuff...

5.9 magnum vs 360 LA balance, might help someone

To fit a nv3500/4500 5 speed like a Dakota or ram had in an a-body, there's lots of cutting involved that wouldn't really be worth it/ratios aren't super great. I was talking a833 with the neutral 130 tooth flywheel (318 type). There's a guy on ebay that sells bolt on weights for 5.9 engines.

    LA heads on Magnum block?

If you have an early Magnum block, it will likely still have the oil passages drilled for the shaft mount rockers.

    Engine machining costs??

That's how it's getting here in AZ, seems like everyone from Cali is flocking over here and changing stuff. Not for the better.

    W2 heads on a 318

Should rev similar to a 340 with the same heads (same stroke, but smaller bore). Like stated above, check how close the intake valves get to the cylinder walls and have them notched accordingly.

    Speed master heads

They look like factory style castings, and around the same cost as Engine Quest cast iron heads cost bare (much beefier). I know those are good heads for Magnums.

    273 and 360 interchangeability?

Your 65 should have a 904 not a 727 unless it was changed, yes it will work with the 360. 273/318/340/360 are virtually identical from the outside and most stuff is interchangeable.

    Hedman Headers Won't Fit

I have hedmans on a 72 Dart, had the whole front end completely apart and the engine/trans out when I put them on. When the engine was going in, I slid the headers into place and put them in with the engine the rest of the way. Then I did up the suspension after that. That seemed to be the...

New eagle rods or refurbish originals?

Very interesting info. The pistons I'm going to be using are Speedpro Hypers, I'm curious now with an eagle floating pin rod what the total weight will be compaired to stock. I have a gram scale in the garage somewhere, so I will be able to check. Now Im curious, are new rods (like eagle I...

New eagle rods or refurbish originals?

I'm putting a mid 70s 360 together and I was wondering if I should have the stock rods resized/new bolts and ground to weigh the same or just go for a set of eagle I beams for $250. Pros/cons of both? Thanks!

    Some advice

The 265DEH sounds like a pretty good grind: "Hydraulic-Very strong midrange. Everyday performance for stock exhaust." Granted he will have 2.5 inch exhaust with turbo style mufflers. What valve springs would you recommend for that cam?

    Some advice

A 360 engine will probably have Speed Pro Hypers because of the price, not entirely what the compression would be with mid 70's 360 heads.

    Some advice

He now has his stock 7.25 with 3.23's. He actually wants to go to a highway gear in the 8.25 so that he can cruise on the highway at a lower rpm. I was thinking 2.76 would probably work for him, but that also depends on what we find for a rear end when that time comes. Also note that he has 14...

    Some advice

He did say that he wants a lopy idle, but not to loose drivability with the stock converter.. So with a 360 and this cam, it would probably do the job. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cca-cl20-600-4/overview/make/dodge I've never been a fan of the Thumpr cams myself, I actually really like...

We already have a core, so we are good there!

    Some advice

Yes, all good points. He really wants something that has a good amount of power, sounds good, and will spin a set of 245's at will (pretty vague, I know). But if the cost is pretty much the same, more cubes makes more sense. Btw, when I said 360 heads I was thinking 360 Magnum heads. But with...

    Some advice

I'm getting ready to help my good local friend take his beautiful 73 Dart build a V8 and install it in his car. The car has a 225/904 now and he wants some more go and that V8 rumble. I told him that a hot 318 would be an easy swap with the conversion mounts, and all the necessary V8 stuff (Rad...

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

I'm still eagerly watching this thread.. My younger brother just finished turboing his 2332 Vw bug (he spent a ton of money having someone fabricate everything) and I would love to show him what's up with a good basic setup on a pretty much stock 318. I would also like to get rid of my cheap...

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

I like what I'm hearing so far, the basic kit would be pretty cool for a mild 318 in a driver. Definitely different then switching it to a bigger motor, and probably would cost less too.

    4bbl intake for 318

That's funny, I don't make stuff up. I've bought 3 performer intakes from the spring/fall flings. When I see them laying there, they usually ask 100 bucks and I can easily haggle them down to 60, they don't want to haul that crap home with them. This right here is why I usually don't post a...

    4bbl intake for 318

Well, I feel good now. I've paid 60 dollars several different times for Performer 318/360 manifolds at swap meets. And they DO have 318 port size, the Performer RPM has 360 port size..

    4bbl intake for 318

I like the performer 318/360. You can usually find them for under 100 bucks, and they work great on stockish 318s!

Who wants a mopar turbo kit?!?!

I will be the first to tell you, there isn't an aluminum slant six head. They were all iron, the ones used on aluminum blocks were cast with the word "special" on the top between the intake and the valve cover. Any aluminum slant head is a custom hand made deal, what RRR was referring to was...
