Good deal on Dougs headers thru Jan 28

Yes, great deal... I'm too far away from needing them to justify them but, man!!!! Nice deal! Thanks for talking me off the ledge Bad440!

Cheap headers that work with PS

I run Hooker Comps on my '73 teener w/ PS & although they dont tuck up as nice as Doug's, I'm as happy as a fat kid with cake. I'm not sure I would choose them if I were running a 2" drop on a 14" wheel, though.

Worth it to put headers on a 318?

'73 Swinger 318 w/ power steering. I went with Hooker Comps due to budget consideration at the time But Im Extremely happy With them. I Can Get To The Plugs And At Less Than Half the Cost Of 340 Hipos They Outperform Them Considerably. Would I Make A Different Choice If Money Were Not A...

    shorty headers?

I've heard good things about Sanderson but haven't had any 1st hand experience with them. Seems to be a mixed bag with the Hedman style shorties. I had this debate with myself for a bit a while back, decided risk vs reward was not enough & went with long tubes. YMMV

    318 exhaust

You gotta start somewhere. 2.5 might be a little much for a 318 though. I like distributor Recurve Idea. It Costs Almost Nothing And The Effects Are Pretty noticeable.

    73 Swinger Headers

Yes you have to get the block pretty high in the air, but before you do... remember to remove the fan shroud. Ask me how I know. :thumblef:

    H pipe worth it

H-pipe & X-pipe both provide different tones. Maybe scour this forum for the clips folks have running one or the other or none at all & hopefully that will help you get the sound you're after. Here's mine with headers, 2.25" duals with an X-pipe. 302 Found

    The coffin

Yeah I saw those advertised in the July issue of Drive! I'm not sure what they would look like in a mopar or what sound they're most akin to. I figured that they'd be popular with the rat rod guys but I'd love to hear more about em too.

    Manifolds vs. Headers

When you say electronic ignition upgrade, do you mean above & beyong the factory elecronic ingnition for those of us that have it? Like an HEI setup or MSD setup. Or do you just mean upgrading from points to electronic. My '73 has factory electronic ignition, so just trying to clear that up. thx

    340 HP's vs headers

These are great threads & the 2nd one has several folks indicating that the large tubes (1 5/8") & collectors (3") would actual hurt torque in a setup like mine which will probably make just short of 300hp. Am I reading that correctly? That ideally a mild setup like the one I'm building would...

    340 HP's vs headers

This is an interesting option which I'd like to know more about. Does anyone else have any insight on the tight tube headers? My setup is currently a stock 318 with a Holley 600 vac on and Performer intake & 2 1/4" dual pipes. Cam is going in this summer & looks like it will be 224/230 @ .050 w/...

    340 HP's vs headers

Great point & something definitely worthy of some thought & discussion. 340 HP manifolds also seem to be trading a little less than they have in years past I'm sure in no small part to hard times.

    340 HP's vs headers

With long tube headers like Dougs, TTI, etc... What can I look forward to as far as mods to the current exhaust setup I've got. Which is true duals from the manifolds back. I guess I'm trying to figure out after I mount the headers (or 340 manifolds) how do I tie it in to my existing system...

No one has anything good to say about the 340 hp's? Hoping someone could share their opinion/experience with both options.

    340 HP's vs headers

I've got a 318 w/ 2 1/4" duals with stock 73 318 manifolds. I'm getting ready to finish my build & am weighing the options of 340H.P. manifolds vs. traditional headers. I'm not sure that $600+ TTI headers are in my future but I may be able to pull together enough for the Hi-po manifolds or...

    Shop recommendation (east Bay, CA)

Getting ready to pull the trigger on the exhaust for the Dart. Looking for either 2.25 or 2.5 dual pipe for the stock manifiold 318. Been quoted locally here in the East SF Bay around $600 for H Pipe & about $750 w/ X-Pipe. The shop comes well recommended. Anyone local to my area able to provide...

    Manifolds useable or junk?

I picked up a set of 318 exhaust manifolds locally to replace the stock manifolds off of 73 swinger because the stock setup has that ugly stovepipe connection to the air cleaner. The manifolds I picked up are stamped '67 & are correct for a 318 but am unsure of the compatibility. Furthermore...

Tired of header leaks , will these manifolds fit a

Sorry for the rookie question but I was told in passing that 340 manifolds on my 318 would be a decent upgrade w/ dual exhaust. Is this legit advice or is it total bull?
