    833 aluminum overdrive reinforcement

80-90 works great in my wore out 833 OD. Shifts like butter even at 6,000 rpm. They are great transmissions mine must have 100k+ on it makes all sorts of bearing noises and OD makes horrible noise, I think the gears are worn out. When I put it in and heard all the noise I expected it to...

    Aluminum 833OD behind a 440...your thoughts

The OD trans are strong from my experience. Put one from a feather duster behind my mild 318. I had no idea what the condition of the transmission was but i put it in anyway. It had loads of miles on it, all sorts of bearing noises and 4th gear sounds terrible but, I just don't use it since I...

What clutch to get for a833 on a 349 stroker

How much hp and tq do you think you'll have? the one with many fingers is a diaphragm clutch and is easier to push. the 3 fingers are harder to push at least as a general rule of thumb. A stock replacement 3 finger clutch really isn't that hard to push down though, some guys make it sound a lot...

    First and reverse issues. Fluid?

Probably your clutch adjustment. 1st and reverse you usally aren't moving when you shift into them. 2,3,4 gears your moving already so it is easier to get it in gear.

My '68 Fastback 4 speed swap

Its not going to hurt anything to have it, But if you have the spring on the clutch fork you really don't need it.

Hard to tell from your pictures but, The shift arms look like they are positioned for a Overdrive 833.

need a quick answer, is it a 4 speed?

I'm not 100% sure but where the trans bolts up to the bellhousing it looks a bit like the 3 speed pattern. It looks like there is another wider set of holes on the bell housing that would be for the 4 speed.

    What have I got?

Drat, That ratio is going to stink with 3.23 gears and 28" tires. Is it a more or less desirable gear ratio?

    What have I got?

I think the side cover is the interlock style.

    Too much torque

I've heard most 4 speed trans are 727 style yolk which you can likely get a bigger u joint yolk. Some did have 904 style yolks though. But you might be able to get a bigger U joint yolk for that out of a truck or van. Looking online, 904 is a 25/26 spline count and 727 is 29/30 spline count...

    833 b body to 833 a body

I think they are different lengths, so you would have to swap out the main shaft as well. Might be better off making a shifter adapter plate or trading it for an A body trans.

    4speed OD

If you had the od already and your looking to go to a normal 4 speed you can probably get a ring to take up the gap of the oversized od input bearing retainer. brewers sells them might be easier than finding/swapping a bell. Shifter mechanisms will interchange. Like said the 3/4 shift rod is...

    Removing Clutch/Brake Assembly- 69 Dart

There is a bracket on the pedal assembly make sure to take it off it will make things way easier. I got to all the bolts with the cluster in but, maybe it is easier without it in there? You might also want to yank the steering column out so there is more room. I did manage to get my...

    4 speed swap

The magnum roller bearing worked out real well for my auto crank. Don't bother ordering that part from brewers just go down to your local parts store NATIONAL Part # FC69907 Make sure when you use the clutch alignment tool to align everything that it pulls out super easy. Like no force at...

Best trans for a manuel swap?

I don't think you would have a problem making something close. even if it's not 100% the same it gets covered with carpet anyhow. But if you can manage to find one for 50$ it might be easier to buy it. either way no big deal. Hell you could drive without it till you got one or made one as long...

Best trans for a manuel swap?

my friend has been running t5s behind a stock short block chevy 350 with simple bolt ons. Real piece of junk, broke one rite a way, found another but that one is getting worse. If you want a 5 speed spend the extra cash and get something decent.

Best trans for a manuel swap?

nv3500 would stink with 3.91 or 3.73 gears. Might work okay with a 3.23 or numerically lower gears. first gear is pretty low so even with 3.23 gears your coming out of the hole like 3.91 gears. but then the overall gear spread is wider. There is a wide ratio and a close ratio, you would want the...

    4 speed swap

flywheel bolts? pressure plate bolts? do you have a trans mount? the crossmember is the same but idk if the mount that bolts to the trans is. Other things you might want to think about are neutral safety switch and the reverse lights. don't forget to adjust your brake light switch when you...

    4 speed swap in 70 dart 340 from a 904 auto

FWIW I just put a 4 speed behind my 318 with a cheap set of headers. I was worried about z bar clearance but It was a breeze to get in there and no interference when I hit the clutch. I think TTIs have some z bar clearance issues tho. but I think people have just modded the Z bar a bit and...

Swapping ratios in an overdrive A-833?

http://www.kabamus.com/garage/gears.html you can use that and get an idea of how the gears will be. It seemed like with a 255/60/15 tire and 3.55 gears that First and second on the OD trans at 6000rpm were 10mph slower than what 904 gears were.

    quick questions on Z bar

I'm putting a new engine in and I have those cheapy low dragging headers and I am putting a 4 speed in at the same time. I want to know if i can put the Z bar in with the engine and headers in place. I Don't want to put my motor in then realize i have to lift it up or take it out again!

    hydraulic clutch questions

Screw it Ill just stick with the mechanical linkage then. I told my dad, "I'm going to get one of those diaphragm clutches" and he insisted on getting a borg and beck. Then he went and bought me one, i guess so I would not buy a diaphragm. Money is tight so I can't justify spending money on...

    school me in shifters?

I would like to know more about the shifter mechanisms for the mopar 4 speeds. For now Ill be running a od 833 but i will go with a non od 833 later. Whats the difference between mechanisms? are mechanisms universal between 4 speeds? how do i spot a good one at a swap meet? I hope I'm not...

    budget 4 speed swap?

IMHO the only way to do it on a budget is to get lucky and get a good deal. I scored a 4 speed od feather duster for 200 bucks, a very lucky and very cheap score! then about 50 for the flywheel, still needs to be resurfaced so thats maybe another 20 bucks there. then the clutch was maybe $130...
