    Paint question

Leave it - change the fender (who cares the color) and go full “Joe Dirt.” I however do like the look. When I was in Highschool (tech school) a guy in the body shop for giggles buffed red primer after laying down like 4 coats. Buffed out to a beautiful flip flop purple/ red. He clear coated...

Antenna installation on a ‘63 Valiant

Yes drill in the bump out in the center there. Antenna grommet goes there (small like 1/2”) to seal the cable. It kinda looks like a pimple on the side of the triangle. Drill inside to outside.

    Underbody paint advice needed

    1) read the directions on what the supplies you have require. 2) truck bed line on your floors? Sorry your car not mine but that is going to be a pain to clean dirt and hold moisture between the metal and the liner. Allowing rot to spread easy. I did that on a cab of a 72’ W200. Sand blasted...

    Parting out A-Bodies

You do realize that when AMD has to make the die that forms each fender it’s over $140,000.00 per side. That’s $280,000.00 per pair. Selling those fenders at $500 each means they need to sell 560 sets plus there will be loss for transportation damages and free donations for car clubs and such...

    Duster Duck Tail

Sorry to add- on the pocket style there is a plastic cap and shoulder that goes with the screw. The shoulder goes under the screw head like a washer and the cap snaps on to cover the head. I believe those screws are small head than I advised above. As for fit and finish… 8 out of 10. Not bad...

    Duster Duck Tail

There are two styles- screw on (Direct connection made) or glass on (aftermarket fiberglass style) The screw on I can speak about as I’ve had them and plan on using one on my Demon when it’s completed. You use like a 3/4”-1” self drill self tap screw with a flat Phillips drive head. The head is...

Have you ever seen any Dart, Valiant, Demon or Duster with a rear window defroster?

My understanding is the factory style was the blower motor in the rear shelf. Aftermarket was the copper strips attached to the glass and run with electricity as a dealer add on. Typically aftermarket. Those are very rare and seldom work, customers did not need them due to the angle of the...

Replace panels before or after dipping?

Dipping before you cut out metal. Liquid will get everywhere. They dip them power wash, then dip and power wash and typically a third dip and power wash and then a neutralize bath then a primer of some sort. It’s not like sand blasting where you are paying for the time by the hour. And the more...

    Patches 69 Dart

Auto body Special-t’s in Middlefield CT also sells pieces. I’m sorry I cannot find the correct spelling or website. But they got them. Right on Route 66….. not the cool Route 66. The Communist state of Connecticut 66.

    Duster frozen hood hinges

I agree with above but will add if you take off the gravel guards between the fender and the firewall you can gain access to the hinges way easier. Also at first movement of the hood go slow up and down. Lots of penetration oil- I prefer Pb blaster also.

1972 Demon trunk emblem (need help from the Demon experts)

Some did and some did not. My 1st 72 Demon 340 3 speed car was like 04/72 build date. It was a stripped car and had metal Demon but no 340 call outs. Higher interior trim level. My next Demon 340 was a 72 with striped and Demon 340 decals fenders and rear. My currrent demon has Demon 340 metal...

Do they make a fuel tank without the spare tire cut out?

I’m sure a company like Tanks inc. In Iowa I believe could easily build you that tank.

Online suppler for trim screws, clips, seals etc

eBay is also a good resource for complete kits. Sometimes they are hit or mis. I have bought kits from Vans LLC. They too have been a good source Layson’s restorations is another great place to look. Rick is on here. Good people. Syleng1

    1964 Valiant door latch repair

Sagging hinges and worn out mechanisms are possibly to blame. Adjustment of the door also. If you lift the door and it moves up and works better then the hinges are worn. If all that is good then start searching for a new latch mechanism. They are out there. I bought a new one off eBay for like...

    Detailing Dash Bezels

Or drunk. Seriously- the best painters typically use alcohol to relax them and allow them to paint like no other. I don’t recommend this practice- just what I’ve observed over the years.

    Detailing Dash Bezels

From the factory they painted the lettering first, then when dry a stamp that fit the letters perfectly dropped over the letters and the back ground was sprayed. I saw a video on it on YouTube years ago. It is definitely a process.

    340 Fender Badge conundrum

I own a 72 early production stripper 340/4 speed car. Cloth interior and rubber floor mat, only option is power steering. The badging is the pot metal Demon Emblems, Dart emblem on trunk lid with no Demon call out out back. My 340 emblems are on both fender sides just to the lower right of the...

    Turn signal indicator wiring connector?

Those are standard bullet ends. Maybe try a different auto parts store or ask in wanted ad for the bullets female with a section of wire from any one who has older harness or a collection of harnesses to rob them from.

    Rear glass 74 Dart Sport

Is this an new gasket or aftermarket gasket? I find the replacement gaskets sold today are not the best fitting. If you are reusing the old one - they stretch sometimes removing them. Not an easy job at all regardless of the gasket. NOS, aftermarket, used. Tough job. Good luck! Syleng1

    Wiper motor LOUD

IMHO: take it back out (I know- ugh!) Take it apart and check it out or better yet order another and send that one back. It probably something inside rubbing like the wrong bushing or the shaft has a slight bend do to being dropped during assembly. There is really not much to them. Syleng1
