Back then we had better fuel. Now days vapor lock is common on classic cars. Best thing to do is reroute gas line away from exhaust manifold,run the fuel line from pump over valve cover to carburetor. Search it here or on slantsix.org

It depends on your build. Are you going to run headers,port work on head,cut the deck/head,or over boring the block.. Offy are for stock to mild hp and are at home with stock exhaust manifold. Clifford are for street strip hp wiith higher rpms due to larger plenum and runners ..Take a look over...

Comp Cam nitride harden the cams which is much harder than the oil pump gears.It will eat your oil pump gear till you lose oil pressure,then all your works is for nothing... Good advice !!!

Sounds like a vacuum leak. Try cupping your hands over carbs to see if you can lower idle....you could also put a vacuum gauge on it and report back what it is pulling ... Does either carb respond to turning in the a/f ratio screw... Spray some carb cleaner at base gasket or throttle shafts to...

Need a closer picture of the crack... I would cut a v groove over the crack,sand,grind and put JB Weld(orginal formula) in the groove. Drain motor of antifreeze and clean the area to be epoxied really good.(Acetone,lacquer thinner or brake cleaner) Google it ,several people have repaired cracks...

Try remove a push rod and I bet it is covered in oil if the drains over the cam are clogged.(use a push rod as a dipstick so to speak)

Yes it has 1.70 / 1.44 valves. I bought a mild /6 build and the head was already done with the bigger valves,some bad machine work was done, valve were not centered to seats... I do not know if Justin still has the numbers but originally flowed worst than a stock head. Justin ported it and...
