    Just a 284-484?

My friend ran this cam in the early 90's. It was in a stock headed 360. No porting whatsoever, just a 3 angle valve job. The motor was around 9.5:1 compression. This went into a 1975 Dart with 3.23's or 3.55's and ran mid-13's. No slicks. Just BFG street radials, so traction was an issue. Hot...

I was thinking 4000+ rpm stall. What's the RPM range on the cam?

what size carb do i need?

Holley's website recommends 750-850 cfm. I entered the following data... 355 CID 7200 RPM highly modified engine double pumper, manual choke, for race. With the amount of work you have into your motor, I would seek the advice of a carb expert, i.e. Barry Grant or maybe a forum...

Looking for a little more power out of a 318

From your engine pic, it already looks like you have a Torker manifold and an Eddy carb. As stated above, 350-375 will require compression in the 9.5 or higher range with a matched cam.

    the right intake

NOt sure if your builder just didn't know what gear ratio you were running when you had the motor built. But I would agree that the RPM is the better choice at this time.

    the right intake

Also depends on what gears you plan on running? Auto or manual? If auto, what stall? What is the RPM range of the cam? Is it true 10.5:1 compression or just 10.5:1 pistons?

    Living with 3.91's

I have 3.90's in a Dakota. It turns 3000 rpms at 60 mph and a 27.7" tire. If you don't do a lot of freeway driving, you should be fine.

    318 cam selection

http://www.geocities.com/alwest_83/318.html Here's an article with ported 302 heads. Cam is the Mopar Performance P4452761 with .450"/.455"lift , 268/272 duration.

    318 cam selection

.509 cam would seem big for 2.76 gears and fuel economy in mind. I think the 340 cam would be a good choice. It is high in duration but low lift. I've heard 340 cams in a 318 will also give it a slight lope. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=DCC%2D4452782&autoview=sku

    Negative supercharging in the outback??

I'm not going to bag on something because it's from Australia. The Australian members on this forum are some of the most loyal Mopar followers out there. But here's my take on this negative supercharger thing. Let's use the "stage 3" kit as an example...

    Mopar 284/528 mechanical camshaft

The 284/528 cam can use a little more convertor and gear than what you have. If you upgrade to a 3000 stall and 4.10, you can probably shave an additional .25 off your time.

np...to clarify, they used the Edelbrock Magnum heads and there is mention of some porting work.

    Small block strokers. Your findings.

I just picked up the latest issue of the Engine Masters Challenge where they detailed a 408 build. They used a Magnum 360 block and heads and a cast crank. Their goal was a 6000 RPM street motor. The result was 554 HP.

318 build. what would you do?

You can go by the Hot Rod Link that qwk_dust provided as a blueprint. But that is also assuming you'll be doing your own assembly work. I would ping Goodysgotacuda. He has a good 318 build that runs into the mid 13's in a 73 Cuda.

318 build. what would you do?

    1) The stroker kit alone will eat up your $1500 budget. Then the other costs (carb, machine work) and you'll easily exceed twice your budget. 2) When you increase stroke to 4" from 3.31" you change the dynamics and rev characteristics of the 318. 3) How high do you plan on revving it? Most...

    416 stroker ???

You missed the point on Moper's post as he clearly stated it's his opinion. After what I've read, I'll probably still use the SIR's in my stroker build. But Moper's just saying that HE had a bad experience with them and chooses not to use them. More often than not, too many people take what has...

    416 stroker ???

Wow! 15 posts and only 1 guy actually posted his combo.
  24. T

    heres my combo , i need more.....help

Compression is your biggest limiting factor. With 9.5:1 or higher compression, some bowl porting wiht your existing cam should get you in the low 13 range.

Which option for most improved pwer delivery?

If you had to choose which one first first, I would go gears and torque converter.
