Would love to know if that works out for you!

    Backspacing question

On my car I only have 11" from inner fender to the spring. Centering a 10.5 in tire in there would be a bear, and really I'd want at least .5 clearance on each side. Im sure it isn't the answer you want, but best to get in there with a tape and square and measure her up.

Like a kid on Christmas morning......

Got the new Falken Azenis 200 treadwear tires mounted up on my new rims. They are Soooo sticky! Can't wait to mount them up and head to the alignment shop next week

I used poly bushings when I rebuilt. Hopefully they are up to the task.

But doing the back up, spin around and take off move would surely be fun!

Is this too close for comfort? w/pics

If I knew it was too close i wouldn't have asked the question. I do know there is a whole website full of people who have tried and failed, and tried and succeeded to draw knowledge from. Most say it'll work, based on their experiences. You disagree. Noted. I believe I am going to give it a...

Did that too. Wasn't able to get any contact, but I'm sure there will be more deflection under actual load.

Good point. I am pretty close on the alignment. But I do need to have it done.

Sorry I should have stated that the pictures were taken with the wheel turned to where it was the closest I could get it to the sheet metal. They do not hit anywhere, but what you see is the closest they get. Thanks,

I am shooting for a 17X8 rim with a 245/45/17 tire. I bought 1 of the rims I want and one tire to test it all around before I buy a whole set. This will become the spare if I pull the trigger On the rear I am golden, but up front it is TIGHT I have less than an inch and was wondering if any...

Max tire size - 68 dart

It would be a good idea to get under there and measure. But it seems (width wise) that 225's usually work, 245's are getting tight (I ran them on my val for several years) and some guys have gotten 255's and 265's under there with a stock suspension set up. That is going to get really tight...

YET another will it fit..... steelies on a 68 Val

Wow, those wheels aren't but a few dollars more than the steelies from Vintiques. I'm going to go back and read this all very carefully. I've got some measuring to do too and I want to make sure I understand it! Thanks, CE

YET another will it fit..... steelies on a 68 Val

Hmmm 245's all the way around sounds pretty good. So, 5.25 of bs is a good starting point? I assume I have some measuring to do! And would the offset be 0? Wonder if anyone makes steel rims in these sizes or if I'll have to do some sort of mag. Okay, time to do some internet searching. Thank...

YET another will it fit..... steelies on a 68 Val

Man I was hoping you'd show up on this thread. Guess I could have sent you a pm too! lol The "+6" offset can't be inches can it? The hub register doesn't seem close enough to the face to be 6" positive offset. Or am I brain farting here? If I cannot get an 8X15 rim up front it changes things...

YET another will it fit..... steelies on a 68 Val

The cop rims were a second choice anyhow, but it was what I had. Bird in the hand. This may be my excuse to get what I really want.

YET another will it fit..... steelies on a 68 Val

Oh, and the "4.5" in backspace on the oe cop rims I have is kind of all over the place anyhow. They run from 4.25 to almost 4.5. So if the Wheel Vintiques have better tolerances I think this would help too. Maybe?

YET another will it fit..... steelies on a 68 Val

Hey All, Please help with steelies! Car is a 68 Val. 8.75 rear, super stock springs out back, kyb shocks, standard spring locations. "Stock" suspension up front too, but rebuilt, boxed lowers, 1" torsion bars, kyb shocks, lowered a little bit, disc brake upgrade, and the later model sway bar...

    lug nut seat angle

Evan, I measured one of the lug nuts from my car last weekend b/c I was making a stud installation tool. It uses an actual lug nut to pull the stud into place so I had to cut a corresponding cone into the tool. It is indeed 60* as the others have already confirmed!

Red wheels or body color wheels???

Darter mine is the same. Not a straight panel on the whole car. It looks pretty good in pics, but up close.... Lucky you, on the $75 fender. It is a cool car none the less!

Red wheels or body color wheels???

Okay, I think the consensus is NO RED! Which is cool, I just needed to hear it from someone else. I'm not a fan of the black so I'm going to go body color after all, or close to it as I'll be mixing my own paint. Even these wheels will be temporary in a manner of speaking (a year or two) b/c...

Red wheels or body color wheels???

Lol, my rf fender is smoonched too. I've been looking for a straight one for years. Seems like all the parts cars that come up have the rf screwed up in some manner. Love the car. Thanks for posting your combos. Must not get much rain where you are.......

Red wheels or body color wheels???

Hey all, I put a set of red wheels on my car as it was the only lbp set I had after the suspension upgrade. Now I have to get the real shoes on her. Thing is, I kind of started digging on the red wheels. It has kind of a hot rod look to it. I was going to go with body color wheels, but now I am...
