    Bad Headlight Switch?

Thank you but I have all an aftermarket wiring harness. No bulkhead anymore. I have an amp meter I will place on the headlight wiring to see the amperage per side. If its within spec when they shut off my guess is a bad switch.

    Bad Headlight Switch?

When I restored my 69 Swinger I bought a new headlight switch from Ron Francis. I'm thinking its junk. Low beams work ok but high beams trip the circuit breaker inside the switch. Also overhead light is flaky when using the switch to turn it on manually. Standard Sylvania 7" Halogen at 5amps...

    Coil Voltage

Wow so much info. I have been a Mopar die hard for 47 years and I just took the ignition system for granted. Thank you all for the great info. Maybe I should leave well enough alone and start looking at plug coloration for a better picture. My goal is to make sure the setup I have is OK...

    Coil Voltage

I am running a Mallory All-In-One marine disty the correct ballast and a MSD coil. It works fine and has a lot of advance curve options. After reading the article I was curious if there is a hotter spark with an HEI.

    Coil Voltage

Wow that is really cool and explains a lot. Thanks

    Coil Voltage

The reason I am asking is that I saw an article on how how much better the HEI system is and that it delivers full voltage to the coil at run. No ballast. This article was showing Mopar and Ford guys how to convert to HEI using their stock distributors as the signal. Claiming to provide better...

    Coil Voltage

What is the coil voltage on a Mopar. I have heard it is 7VDC because of the ballast resister as opposed to GM HEI 12VDC or is that only at start-up? Thanks FABO

    Need some turn signal school

Run a hot 12V jumper to the red wire on the column for the signal switch and see if that works. If so then at least you know your wiring for the switch and lights is good. Its just a matter of where the break is then.

    Need some turn signal school

Life got in my way for 14 years trying to build my 69 Dart. I think the ignition switch and turn sig switch harness runs outside the column so you might be able to do your tests there instead of tearing it all down. Just remember if you unplug the connectors the circuit is broken. You cab get a...

    Need some turn signal school

Ok sounds good, but you will still need 12V on that red wire on the turn signal switch from the ignition switch. Good luck and let me know if I can help.

    Need some turn signal school

You should have 12 volts at the red wire on the signal switch when the ignition switch is in run. If not you either have a break or someone that has hacked into the wiring. There are two or three red wires at the ignition switch. Check them all for voltage when the switch is in the run position...

    Need some turn signal school

The turn signals get power through the ignition switch. Check the red wires on the switch inside the column or the connector just outside the column. You may just have a dirty connection or a broken wire. You should have power when you turn the key to run not start. For your purposes teh Duster...

    Need some turn signal school

Happy to help. I just replaced the wiring harness in my 69 Dart with an after market one from Jegs. I learned a lot from doing that. Of course the dash was out of the car which made it possible. Good luck with your project.

    Need some turn signal school

You didnt say what year and model. I believe Allpar.com has wiring schematics for some cars that you can download. See if you can get those and a DVM and start tracing the signals. Google it if Allpar doesn't have it. If its a 68 or 69 Dart I have that one. Does it have the original harness...

Please Help Identify wires on harness - 68 Barracuda

You might want to consider deleting the ammeter and replacing it with a volt meter. They are a known source of problems since all the power of your electrical system runs through them. More than one car has been burnt to the ground as a result of these things. Now they are all 50+ years old...

Hiding the wires in engine bay

Remember this, always run a ground wire from a trunk mounted battery to the engine directly. Do not use the chassis for your ground cable. Also run at least #1 ga or 1/0. Welding cable should never be used in a car as it does not meet the insulation temp and spec of car wiring. It may be cheaper...

    wiring harness

Ron Francis, i found an 18 circuit from Jegs that looks identical for $300. Thats what I'm wiring my 69 swinger with right now. There are concessions in that almost harness are not Mopar original and have a bow tie steering connector. There will always be some splices. Check out the RF its...

    Replacing the Station Push Buttons/Radio

Redfish awesome, Thanks. I will wait for 4Speeds email answer and hopefully I'll get a little braver. Luckily I do have one of the black knob radios I will experiment with. FABO is great. Keeps me from breaking Sh$t.

    Help! Slow Battery Discharge

Everyone, Thank you all for the posts and ideas. I have not been able to get back on this issue as I have been chasing a vibration issue. I'll do some more testing this coming weekend and make a post.

    Battery in trunk wire routing.

To prevent voltage drops you should have a separate negative cable run all the way to the engine block. All other grounds should connect to this same stud. Voltage drops results in poor ignition box performance as well as other electronics. Also if you have a battery disconnect install it on the...

    Help! Slow Battery Discharge

Well I decided to put my battery disconnect back on until I can trace this rascal down. I have a more serious problem that just cropped up, drive line vibration between 5 and 7K rpm. I will concentrate on that first and post more results on the electrical issue as soon as I get a chance. Thanks...
