5.7 hemi rough idle and low backfire out exhaust any ideas

Hopefully it will reset the memory and will be fine. I believe having the ability to plug into your muscle car like a new car a check diagnostics is the best part of the Hotwire /stock pcm setup . You can watch misfires on data stream ,Also checking long term fuel trim can tell if it is...

5.7 hemi rough idle and low backfire out exhaust any ideas

Any codes that state Bank one or Two , Sensor "Two" means downstream oxygen sensor (after catalytic converters) Usually The Hotwire setup usually doesn't use post converter O2 sensors because usually catalytic converters aren't usually used in hot rods/swaps.Not sure what you have with your...

5.7 hemi rough idle and low backfire out exhaust any ideas

When we fired up our 5.7 hemi it had a pop/backfire ,found on of the injectors was stuck closed. The modern gasoline with the ethanol blends are hard on the injectors when they set . You can use your stethoscope on those to make sure they all sound the same running. If you have headers you can...

I wired mine this way and it starts and runs with the factory ignition switch (Dodge Challenger) The factory ignition switch Has 5 wires : Red... batt input to ign switch Blue... run ( ign 1 ) Brown... start ( ign 2, bypass resistor to full feed the coil...

    392 hemi Dart

I used a Champion radiator and made my own fan shroud from aluminum and tack welded it to the radiator and used a Spal fan . I have to put some holes in the shroud with rubber flaps yet, to allow air flow on the highway.

    MDS elimination?

Those MDS solenoids in these older engines with high miles are easy to break . The plastic becomes very brittle and the tops break off very easy, the last one I did I ended up drilling a small hole and inserting a small self tapping screw to give me something to pry it out with.

    Hemi won't fire

I know in my 74 Challenger I had to wire the crank and run wires from the ignition switch together so the ECM had powers in both positions. Sounds like your ignition switch has a separate circuit also in the crank position .

    Hemi won't fire

You can put a spark plug in the coil and ground it and check for spark during crank. You can also make sure the coil is getting power during crank. If it is loosing spark, the best thing would be to have a scan tool hooked up checking for codes and data. And of course proper powers and...

    Hemi won't fire

There is no fuel pressure sensor .Ford uses a pressure sensor to pulse width the fuel pump for pressure control , but the factory mopar system uses a fuel pump module that regulates fuel pressure to a single line . Most guys use a corvette style fuel filter with a return to regulate pressure...

    Starting and idling problems

That engine seems to like those 6.1 injectors in it. I would just leave them in there and run it .

    Starting and idling problems

A fuel system that bleeds off from the regulator not holding , usually causes hard starting until the system reaches proper pressure. But you want to make sure its not bleeding down due to leaking injectors.

    Starting and idling problems

The factory test: Install the fuel pressure gauge: Start the engine and allow the fuel system to reach maximum pressure. Turn the ignition off. NOTE: Fuel specification is 407 KPa +/- 34 KPa (59 psi +/- 5 psi). Monitor the fuel pressure gauge for a minimum of 5 minutes. NOTE: The...

    Starting and idling problems

I assume you have headers on it. One nice thing about that is if you let it run a little like in the first video you can quickly touch the header tubes and make sure they are all getting equally hot. If you had one not getting hot that would indicate a problem in that cylinder. You could have...

    Starting and idling problems

If you put the 6.1 injectors back in and it runs, then my first thought would be that the 6.1 injectors are bigger and giving it more gas and that's what it is needing. The factory computer is going to give you a tune for a stock car, and that is assuming everything is correct as far as specs...

    Starting and idling problems

Here is factory mode of operation: The following actions occur when the starter motor is engaged. •If the PCM receives the camshaft position sensor and crankshaft position sensor signals, it energizes the Auto Shutdown (ASD) relay and fuel pump relay. If the PCM does not receive both...

    Trouble starting

I use a fuel injector tester , It pulses the injectors and with a pressure gauge hooked up you can watch how much the gauge drops which is checking flow of each injector. You can test all of them to make sure they are flowing the same . This will pick up problems with clogged injectors or if...

    Trouble starting

    Trouble starting

The spark plug would have to be grounded when checking spark or , I usually run a ground test lead from the battery negative over to the spark plug or spark tester. You should have a nice blue spark . You could have an issue with fuel delivery if spark and timing/compression is OK . I would...
