    Internal engine coatings?

IMO coatings are more for reliability than power. Lower engine temps, less friction, means less wear. Techline is a good supplier and they have a good library of info.

Building a 410 stroker and need some advice

OK, if thats the case @ 105 real, you can run 11:1 Dynamic Compression Ratio The requirement at that ratio is 104 octane. So 11:1 static should be no problem. Andrew

Building a 410 stroker and need some advice

Im sorry, I just now noticed you will be running on propane! My expertise is on octane based fuels I have no idea what propane requires or will put up with in the way of compression in relation to octane numbers. Andrew

Building a 410 stroker and need some advice

Brewil, 11:1 is pushing it with iron heads and if you are going down the porting road go with some Eddys and have Shaddy Dell do the work. As far as the rest please consider comp cams XE285HL (adv 285/297) and with a set of 1.6/1 rockers will give you .581 lift. You need good breathing to take...

    compression ratio vs octane

idrift, I didnt think I would see this post again. I cant tell you if your pressure reading is the same as cranking pressure, but I think it is. If so 190psi is still in the range for 92 octane, but at the very top of that range. I would not put in a knock sensor if you have valve train...

    advice: 500hp SB build

Moper, now I dont feel like Im out in space, I have $10,000 budgeted for the 416. True I want to squeeze 600Hp out of it on pump gas,but I know I will be pushing the envelope. I do want to take a moment to say the members of this site are a great bunch, and are not affraid to give you the...

    advice: 500hp SB build

My recomendations were based on the statement that it was "going to primarily be a street machine" So let me further qualify: I dont like Hughes either and I want sombody who specializes in small block MoPars. Ryan fits the bill. His site posts these numbers for fully ported edy head...

    advice: 500hp SB build

my vote would be: a balanced stroker kit Eddy heads ported by Ryan at shadey dell The Xe275HL or even the XE285HL A ported and flowed dual plane Have Ryan do that too. Static compression around 10.5 and some sort of an 850 carb. Just my.02 Andrew

    Something different Building for MPG.

Back to basics: I don't know at what ratio you are injecting the alc. But keep in mind you are paying $6.32 per gallon if your $.79 is for a pint which is usally how it comes. As far as the thread goes- Friction is your biggest enemy, whether mechanical, aerodynamic, or fluid. The complete...

    Cylinder pressure? Help.

Moper: I do agree that D.Dyno is an aproximation of trends in component selection. As for instance the cams selection gives you three choices, solid.hyd, roller. There is no way to address the agressive fast rate cams of today. so you select roller.Again only an aproximation. The thread killer...

    Cylinder pressure? Help.

Tracy, thanks for the reply. I have noticed that some people seem to think that a discussion of substitive information is called thread killing. Since I am new to all of this I don't understand that. Your'e correct about the Hp & Tq numbers Rathar than using the words above and below I used...

    Cylinder pressure? Help.

fishy68: at your suggestion I went back and put the following cams through the Sim. Mopar Purple: 280/280, 284/284, 290/290 Lunati: 276/284, 284/292 only the Lunati 284/292 had any improvment in the numbers by increasing HP<6000 and decreasing the Tq>6000. This by about 15Hp & 15FtLbs I...

    US & Canadian Octane Numbers

Here's what I found out. It may not be what everyone expected. But if, as I originally said, It's listed as (R+M)/2 on the pump its all the same standard. Wickapedia: Measurement methods The most common type of octane rating worldwide is the Research Octane Number (RON). RON is determined by...

Max compression for pump gas iron head

Qwk Dust: If you go to "Wallace racing/engine calculators" you will find calculators that will help you not only figure Static Comp, but Dynamic Comp and cranking pressure. you can then enter different cam specs and see how it effects those figures. I am trying to sort out the same issues but...

    Cylinder pressure? Help.

Dan, good luck on trying to figure out DCRs using Hughes cams.I just went through this with Tim and there was no way they were going to either give the actual degree timing of the events or the advertised duration of their cams. They will only give out the .050" events which do you no good in...

Ok yall, Here goes. This is my first tech thread. I must tell you that I have as a passion of mine, since high school, experimental physics. When I sat down to design the new car I approached it with that same passion. While we all have our own opinions, nothing can undo or discount the laws...
