    More nonsense from NHRA Tech

Sometimes it’s best to say nothing until someone else says something. If tech is on the fence with an issue, they might look the other way if they are having trouble filling the field with competitive cars. You know no one likes a boring show especially a track owner, promoter or vendors for...

    More nonsense from NHRA Tech

I got questions. Who said the manifold was stock dimensions and why would someone send a manifold to Wilson just to be bead blasted? Did Wilson manufacture the manifold?

    Intake Manifold Head Hight Alignment

How do you know the intake is too high? By alignment of the ports or by the gap on the China walls?

I'm thinking I put too small a cam in my 360 Magnum...

If you stay under 150 nos, those cast pistons will last for a while, but increase the ring gaps just to be cautious.

I'm thinking I put too small a cam in my 360 Magnum...

It’s hard to find information on fireball cams. A buddy of mine had one in a 70 340 dart, stock except the 850 holley and headers. Not sure which fireball it was but it flew, way better than the 500 lift 302 duration generic cam that was previously in it.

IM surprised by Richard Holdeners 360 Magnum camshaft swap.......

I believe he could tune that high rpm lean spot out by changing out the emulsion tube.

    Visited Alkydigger in Nashville Tennessee

Owning and racing that stuff would take deep pockets like into my shoes. Racing (driving/piloting) that stuff is a fantasy.

Man talking about a cracked head.

Head screws(bolts) or studs? That would be my question.

    Compression

Errr, what build? Compression and cylinder trapping efficiency, start there and optimize for the fuel you plan on running, then increase flow and fuel to reach for the horsepower attainable for the torque you have produced with your combination.

    Drag strips closing every Day!

What really burns my biscuits is assholes that move within earshot of a race track and then relentlessly ***** about noise, crowds and fan behavior. Move somewhere else like the planet Pluto. Case in point a lawyer that moved into the vicinity of Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove, Wisconsin...

    Motor plate question

With that kind of horsepower and torque, I would be looking into reinforcing the frame, cage, down bars, and subframe connectors. Especially in a unibody car of that age. Nice looking engine.

    Motor plate question

Is this the first time you had a high horse power engine in your car?

    NHRA racing legend dies.

Wow. That’s why he backed out of the scene.

Talk about a good looking Duster, just love that paint scheme.

    One for the oldtimers onboard

SLP was a Chevy thing he did in the 90’s when the LT1 was reintroduced. About 3 years ago he was selling new challenger package cars done up with body mods, graphics, interior do-dads and a special super charger package for the gen 3 Hemi. After he sold the rights to his 340/360 stuff I got...

    One for the oldtimers onboard

The dreamers we were. Now that I can afford it and have the time, it’s all gone. Anyone that has one of his windage trays is either using it or won’t sell it, they were that good.

    One for the oldtimers onboard

I have a 1979 for 340’s and 360’s parts catalog. I cry every time I look at it.

    One for the oldtimers onboard

That guy rocked…. Shame you can’t get anymore of his oil pans and windage trays, not to mention a whole lot of other parts he offered.

Looking for advice on a blueprint engine.

Horse apiece, keep in mind the difference in torque curves. With a heavy truck, the flatter the torque curve is better. Less piston pin height, the lighter the piston and quicker it will rev. If it was me, I’d balance the crank by shaving it as opposed to drilling holes to balance it. Then...

Yeah, tell us about your engine build in detail cause your car rocks. Pictures wouldn’t hurt either.

    340 Power on the track

Hell yeah, that’s how you do it.

    Which fuel?

No, I do not. And while it is formulated differently, I concede that it can be used as a high octane automotive fuel. It is a much more refined fuel than automotive gasoline, but it contains tetra-ethyl-lead which is highly toxic. Any and all apologies if insinuated you were or are not genuine.

Gee thanks, I’ll get right on that hunting that down.

    Which fuel?

It really depends on how high an octane rating your engine requires. Do you know what your dynamic compression ratio is? 93 boat gas and a can of torco octane booster works well to a point. So does mixing it with race gas, but it’s definitely not race gas. E85 in a specific built engine is an...

    Which fuel?

And it’s formulated for high altitude use and air cooled engines. Do you drive your car at 5 thousand feet?

How much weight gain from adding a Dana and roll cage.

Dana’s are damn heavy, so are 9 1/4’s. If your car is race only, the more cage the safer and stiffer the car will be. 9’s-10’s ain’t no joke, things get crossed up right quick at those speeds and velocity.
