    for the body guys

Lee gives good advice in both quotes. Even in sunny inland Bay Area weather, my panels would develop surface rust overnight, even in the garage.

    65 Valance Modification, Bumper Delete

Got my vote, well done. Reminds me of an episode of Wheeler Dealer. They had a Lancia and Ant did something similar and added fog lights. His turned out sweet, too.

    Mopar's Better Idea?

Doesn’t look right. And black trim being the most popular color and easiest to access, my guess black was not the original color.

Opinion? Paint Color - Similar to Period Correct or Something Modern?

Agreed. Depends from car to car. But eventually, you will live with it, so it's your call.

    New thing in paint?

Our family took a trip to London seven or so years ago. Saw a Bugatti Veyron there with the exact same finish. Looked like gold chrome.

HF Purple Gun Tips - no more.

I used the purple gun to shoot some PPG primer in my engine bay with no problem. Don't recall the size tip. It was just the cheap $15 gun.

That looks great in the photo. Ballsy work. Well done.

    Patch panel tips

I agree. Patience with a stud gun puller would be the way to go. Besides, if you replace the section of panel, you're still going to have to use body filler to make it paint perfect.

Not a fan of the carbon fiber look on a 70's car. Sorry.

    Remedies for minor bumper scrapes?

I think a touch up with Duplicolor's chrome spray is the cheapest and best you can hope for. There really is no fix, except to have a bumper shop repair and rechrome. Sorry...

    What would you do?

For what it's worth, I would not expect a "nice and straight" job for only $400. If it sounds too good to be true, .... My 2 cents.

I'm in the same boat as you Fonzy. I plan to spot weld and seam seal. Don't forget to spray with corrosion protection before painting!

what is normal for a paint job

X2. The straighter the bodywork, the less primer you need and the less time needed to sand and block it down. I work at a shop with many insurance company contracts. We typically shoot two coats of base, and two coats of clear, sometimes three. We sand down the peel enough to match the...

    65 cuda rear top rails..Help

Sorry to hear about your dad, I bet he's watchin' you with a smile. If you're talking about the moldings that ride along the top of the quarter panels leading up to the tailpipe, I recall they just pop out with a plastic knife. So they should have an arrow-shaped metal clip attached to the...

    Removing surface rust help/question

The only reason I'd repair that fender is if I was on a deserted island with no chance to replace it. That one looks nasty! It would be safer, in the long run, to find a good used panel to replace it with. Deep rust can erupt again.

What paint to use for engine bay?

I used good two stage paint (PPG) with a cheap Harbor Freight paint gun and small compressor. Didn't turn out perfect, but turned out pretty damn good! Its all in the prep!!!
