I like mine. 2 inch Hooker super comp,3 inch full exhaust. Easy to change plugs and starter if need be. Easy to take in and out. I've never hit the ground with them. You do need to run small tires. I use 185/65/15. My fenderwells were cut back in the 80's so keeping them was a no brainer.

If you use a single bolt cam make sure you use red lock tight on the bolt. I can tell you from experience you will not like the results of that bolt backing off even a little bit.

I didn't buy my hooker super comp fenderwell headers from jegs but I've had this set for more than 10 years now with no problems. Got them ceramic coated 4 years ago, no problems so far. I have friends who have had their stuff done for even longer with no issues. Guess it depends who do's it...

I'd remove the inner spring. Are you sure it is double springs and not single spring with a dampener.

I agree with blackhand about the heads. The hp numbers seem a little low. I think I would be more concerned with the low torque #. A duel plane intake and smaller cam would probably wake it up a lot.

Schumacher make moter mounts to install BB into abody. Price of moter and trans will depend on year and milage. The fact it's out of a camper don't mean anything.

I think by 72 440 are all cast cranks.

I started with a 400 block for my 499 build. It's a 1972 block. Some say its the strongest . Its also the first year for the 400. 750hp out of a stock 400 block will be living on the edge for sure. Having them checked for cracks is a good idea.
