    im in same situation, 67 barracuda, want to swap to 4.5" id like to use my existing brakes<4">redrill new bolt pattern in drum to 4.5 as didnt want to blow $$$ on new brakes as a disk conversion on the cards for later on...........my existing axle length is 27.5" and 30 spline,if could get that...

    hi all, upgrading my rear shafts on my A body 8 3/4 from 4" drum, it true i have to change brakes also, ie brake drums as wider shoes etc? i was hoping to redrill my old drum centre bore and redrill bigger stud pattern.

    ive got a dart disk conversion for my barracuda so going up to 4.5 and ordered new wheels to suit,measured the flangeon my axle today with the intention of having them redrilled ,they measure 5.5" diameter outer, there enough on there to redrill?

    :profilel:how did you get on? im in same predicament, changing brakes to disks on front<4.0" at present> and so getting new 4.5 wheels,eventually going to have to buy new driveshafts but shipping to uk expensive so may be getting mine redrilled if enough guts on there!

    welcome!! easiest is to look for no bolts at rear of diff, look at it straight on, you hopfully see a round shape! my 318 had a 7 1/4 was ok for tootling round but one day when i really gave it some it let go,biggest problem finding an 8 3/4 A body over here,well worth the upgrade,you will need...
