    Hedman Headers Won't Fit

Yeah, what doogievlg said. It sounded kinda like you planned on bolting the headers on, and then installing the engine. That will never happen. Let's see some pictures of the headers, so we can tell you if you need to drop the drag link. I'm pretty sure you will. Then you lay the headers in...

    Ok, What gives?

I doubt the engine builder had anything to do with the breather, and whoever pulled and replaced the engine reused it. and yes, people are lazy. And there are lots of other shortcuts that may have taken place. Different people define "rebuild" in different ways.

    SBM variation craziness ... cooling!

Oh, come on... When I worked at a parts tore, we had over 25 water pumps for Chevy 350s alone. All the manufactureres make changes, and there are usually reasons.

    Is this true

Some say that the early 360 block walls were cast the same as a 340. The 340 was .040" larger bore to start with, and many will bore a 340 .060" over. If the walls are the same casting, then a 4.100" bore would be the same in either a .060" 340 or a .100" 360. I would have one sonic tested...

**NEW Edelbrock Victor Series Small Block Heads**

Yes, the ports are raised, and the intake faces moved in to keep the dimentions in place to use a stock dimension intake, but that lifts the intake higher off of the block. W5s and early W7s were like this and needed the spacers to seal the ends. There is nothing to stop someone from using...

**NEW Edelbrock Victor Series Small Block Heads**

That "picture" is just a rendering. If they ever reach the market, they'll probably look different. Hopefully they decide to put all of the head bolt holes on the finished product. I imagine that since they are mostly hiden from this angle under the exhaust ports, the CAD guy just left them...

    Lifting engine for installation

I always use the front of one head, rear of the other. It uses stonger bolts, and allows for some adjustment of the tilt of the engine. I usually put the engine and transmission in together, so this helps. I bout a unit that allows to the tilt adjustment on the fly about a decade ago. It...

    Trans. Identification (727 or 904)?

Look at the shape of the pan. A 904 pan is shaped like a rectangle with the corner cut off. A 727 is sort of the same shape, but has a dogleg added near the front passenger side of the pan, near the dipstick tube. In this pic, the 904 gasket is on top.

Does anyone have pictures of the ports on Edelbock heads?

I have a pair of heads that have never been bolted on anything. I showed some pictures to another member, and he said that they look like someone had started porting on them. I had always assumed it was just some cleanup that Edelbrock did to the ports on heads during the machining process to...

    360 LH Engine mount bracket

The stock part number for that bracket is 2863445. Chrysler stopped making it about five years ago, but you may be able to chase one down through dealers and/or PartsVoice.com. I assume that you're looking for one for a 67-72 crossmember.

    318-340-360

You MAY be able to figure out the displacement by looking on the front of the block, just under the driver's side head. There should be some characters stamped into the block, like others have said. You may need toscrape gunk and paint off to read it. And there's no guarantee it's there or...

    340 piston to head clearance????

Stock 68-71 340s have the pistons like this. He has a short block already together and is looking for a set of heads that will allow the use of the pistons. I agree that the valve clearance is a concern. Cutting the heads that much not only moves the chamber closer to the pistons, but the...

Just got W9 heads, what now?

Start saving for rockers. T&D or Jesel. $1000-$1500. You said Bare. Do they have seats and guides? If not, you'll heve some choices for valves. Probably around 2.15" and 1.65". There's a shop here in town (HRD Racing Heads) that does a lot of development work and porting for all sorts of...

    273 to 340 swap ?'s

I used the 68 273 manifolds and they sealed fine. Of course, I would recommend something that would breathe a bit better than 273 manifolds.

    273 to 340 swap ?'s

That's a question that can have people arguing for days. Personally, I'd suggest that on a low compression 73 340, an 1850 600 cfm vacuum secondary carb would work very well. Especially since it's an automatic.

    273 to 340 swap ?'s

You'll need a 904 converter that is balanced correctly for the cast crank 340. I'm not saying it's a huge issue. It's just one of the only things you're going to run into that isn't basically a straight swap. I've done the 273-340 swap a few times, and it's pretty simple. You shouldn't have...

    273 to 340 swap ?'s

The bracket you need to change is on the left (driver's) side. If it's a 73 cast crank engine, you're going to run into balance issues. Are you planning on keeping the 904?

    Small block heads??

Check out http://www.shadydellspeedshop.com . The last pair of new, unported, blue core plug W5s I had sold for $1700 for the bare heads. They still needed to be ported, valves, springs, etc, and they take the special W2 valvetrain. They can get pretty spendy.
