dart disk/upper A arm bush question

btw - sometimes it's a pain to get the old ones out - you may have to drill, cut and air chisel the thing out. Lots of times the old ones need to come out in bits and pieces. As long as you don't mess up the control arm, you're fine.

dart disk/upper A arm bush question

can hardly tell by your pics, but judging by the tiny glimpse of the bushing to the right in you second pic - those are the right bushings and just need to be pressed in. Looks to me that they include the outter metal sleeve. The bushing is pressed in as a single unit. Have the old one...

    Opinions on rear spring idea

Hey - I've got a set of HD springs that don;t have more than 500 miles on them. I have them in the "for sale" section for $125. They have alluminum bushings that you'd have to swap out, but with shipping they may still be in your budget. PM me if interested. Dan

    polyurithane or poly graphyte

Actually, I thought that the graphite was there to stop the squeaking. I installed poly-graphite in a Bee and Charger - the Bee squeaked because I didn't use enough lube when installing. the Charger has never made a sound - I think as long as the lube is there, the Poly-graphite are the way to go.

    Aluminum leaf bushings...

I found a set of unused leaf spring for a good price - but they have aluminum bushings installed. I was thinking I would just replace them w/ poly or rubber, but wanted to know if these can be used on the street if I left them in. They're going on a street car - should I ditch the aluminum...

    Torsion bar upgrade

I've seen a few threads on here about the Hellwig bar, but admittedly, I haven't read through to see if they offer any unique feature - with that said, i personally like the Firm Feel sway bars. I bought and installed one on my 68 Charger, and the quality was second to none - the brackets were...

    1968 Dart steering question ?

I could be wrong, but as it relates to the A,B, and e bodies, they're all alluminum.

    1968 Dart steering question ?

They all work - the manual boxes are all the same in A, B, and E bodies - even after 72.

    power steering question...

I have a 73 power steering box and set up. The box (according to what i've read) should be a large sector box, because power boxes changed to large sector for 73, right? So, if one was to try to use this on a 72 and older car, it obviously bolts right in, but the problem is the pitman arm...

BTW, to the original poster - the sector is basically another name for the splined output shaft.

    Flaming River box-sector size?

Power boxes all used small sector thru 72. 73 and up went large sector, so you're right, his 72 arm should fit regardless. But in terms of manual boxes, all A,B, and E bodies used boxes that will interchange and all were small sector. I went from power to manual in my 73, so i had to...

    Flaming River box-sector size?

That's not right. Almost all the manual boxes are the same. The large sector was pretty much just used in cars like the large C-bodies and trucks. Your stock pitman will fit - as long as you had manual steering to begin with. the power won't swap with the manual. The only reason that the 73...

Sucks for you - I guess you'll have to learn to live life with one arm, Mr. Pittman.
  22. D

    Pitman arm

Redfish - you may know more than me, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought most of the manual steering boxes will interchange from year to year, and body line to body line. I know they did use boxes with a different size sector, but I thought those were in C-bodys or something like that...

    Pitman arm

$250 is a pretty good deal - depending on condition. The box alone is worth around $75, so $175 for a floor shift, manual column is a decent price.
  24. D

    Pitman arm

I changed to manual steering on 2 cars that had 73 k-members (so this would apply to at least 73 and up cars) - I had to get new pitman arms specifically for the manual steering. For the OP, don;t worry about the pitman arm being cut if you're getting a good deal on that column - they're...

Dude - relax. I was making a joke in DEFENSE of you, because you didn't instantly come out and say the RMS was the best. I was jokingly saying that would be a percieved dis of RMS, and therfore, people would attack you for it. Forget I even posted in this thread - too much explanation for...

    Alterkation front end swap

I'm cringing because you dared to say something that could be percieved as a dis toward AlterK - it's taboo to speak out against RMS. It was an attempt to be humorous - I was being facetious. For the record, I have nothing against the AlterK and would love to have one, I was just making...

How bad did I drop the ball?

I'm not sure about the Abody kit, but the scarebird disc conversion I put on my Charger had the calipers mounted to the rear. If it's the same design, there's no risk of the calipers hitting the sway bar. this mechanic is an idiot, and obviously doesn;t know what he's doing...
