Very bad idea. Unibody cars depend on the top as well as the doors and bottom for rigidity. Without a top the center could sag and the car could fold up in an accident. Without a cage or frame modifications it wouldnt be safe.Convertibles have different unibody construction than sedans. Dont do it.

I used a tip from here taking a 5 foot piece of gutter and siliconing end caps on to create a trough. All available at lowes reasonable.Then I use a drain cleaner water solution to strip the anodizing. Dont leave it longer than needed and rinse with fresh water. Works in 5 minutes or less usually.

I used drano crystals in a 5 foot plastic gutter section with 2 end caps. Makes an excellent trough for long pieces. Got the idea from someone here so credit isnt due.2 to 5 minutes will eat the anodize off. Dont bathe it too long and rinse well.

I used demon doors on my dart to do away with the vents.I think maybe you could change the glass over and dissasemble the vent frame from the door. Not sure the glass will work though. I did it to use lexan.
