the one on the left was in the engine when i bought the car 30+ years ago. The whole engine was painted that chevy color. the guy i got it from had it since the mid 70’s. i don’t think people cared about factory correct colors back then . It would be nice to take it back to close to original...
Anyone know where i can get one of these rebuilt? the nicer of the two is in pretty good shape , but the upper bushing is a little worn. for some reason they are both painted a different color of orange .
i don’t really care if it’s numbers correct , i just don’t want to burn up my wire harness or my voltage regulator. From what i’ve read on the forums the 60amp that’s available is pushing my luck on the stock harness. i’ve also read that some of the rebuilt alternators put out too high of...
I need some advice on where to buy the correct alternator for my non a/c 340 swinger. The original alternator is long gone. I have a stock wiring harness and a new old stock 69 voltage regulator. It seems like most of the aftermarket and rebuilt alternators available are much higher amp rating...
When i was in high school i had a 1970 Chrysler with a tnt hp 440. Cheap gas would make it ping regardless of how the timing was set. My dad zero decked a 318 and it was the same way. 93 octane or ping lol.
Impressive resto you have going there. I saw what is supposedly a nos 273 Prestolite distributor for sale relatively cheap online. Another guy has a rebush kit for sale but he wants $90 plus shipping. Seems kinda high to me for 2 bushings and some washers lol.
I found a few sellers on eBay selling parts for a small fortune . Anyone know the difference the 67 273 commando 4speed Prestolite distributor and the 69 340 model?
Anybody rebuilding Prestolite dual point distributors? I started tearing into the stock one that came on my 340. The bushings are shot and I'm pretty sure the vacuum diaphragm is shot too. Any sources out there for parts? Thanks
I dont know if they make a single point to dual conversion set up but they put s prestolite dual point distributor in late 60's 340 cars with manual trans. They pop up from time to time on ebay for around 100 to 150 bucks.
