Help me get into the 12's for cheap

The things you need to change you aren't willing to change…. 1) Change to steeper gears -- NOPE -- drive to much 2) Lighten the interior -- NOPE -- family rides 3) Spend more that $2K for a better producing engine -- NOPE -- not in the budget With all of this in mind --- I'd start with...

So its sounds like several of you have spoken with troy and discussed some your specific needs. So what are the early numbers being tossed around in your discussions on one of the tubular k-frames? I completely understand that cost may be dictated by ones needs, but I think we are all...

10pt cage & keeping the back seat

Why do you assume anyone is going to crawl into the back seat merely because it has one???? I couldn't stand the look of my car with out one and having to look at the metal work in the back. Also no X--brace in my 10pt cage -- Since the car was not back halved nor was I running times that...

10pt cage & keeping the back seat

Wrong bars. That was the easy one for me to figure out. Talking about the (2) short angled bars right behind the front seat. I think I got it figured out though. By adding in frame connectors I will have a solid frame tie to relocate these short angled bars to in order to fit the rear seat.

10pt cage & keeping the back seat

Do my bars land on the frame of frame connectors: They angle backwards to land on the frame since I do not have frame connectors. But I plan to add them. In which I should be able to move the bars. I'm not too concerned with the NHRA rule book since the car will most likely not be raced but...

10pt cage & keeping the back seat

Here are the pics of the bars I am referring to. Couldn't get better pics at the moment, if needed I will run across town to the warehouse for some clearer pics. I am referring to the (2) pipes that angle down to the floor, from the seat cross bar. You can see the one between the two seats...

10pt cage & keeping the back seat

Those would be the (2) upper bars. I already have them routed way above the rear seat and through the speaker holes. Those I figured out just fine. The (2) in question are the ones I listed above. I put them in to clear the bottom seat they would be mounted to the rear seat pan only and...

10pt cage & keeping the back seat

I currently have a 10pt cage in my Demon and I am trying to figure out how / where to relocate the bars to in order to put my rear seat back in the car. The main vertical hoop and front seat bar are far enough forward to clear the bottom seat, but the (2) down angle bars that tie the main...

Need Advice on Low(er) Budget Race Build

slugger, well from reading the posts above I think most racers would tell you to to start saving more money. Honestly if you planning a build over a couple years then spend the money on what ever part you are working on today. The safety and sfi regulations could change by the time you...

Need Advice on Low(er) Budget Race Build

Slugger -- What type of car are you building? Year and make? I did my car really cheap from the get go and ran high 11's right out of the shoot. Car looked like hell but I was on the track in less than 3 months. for about $5K -- so if your have $2k to work with now I would say look at it as...

    Back Halfing Question

Rob, That's what I am trying to avoid. Part of me says I should just make some time to do it myself. The tubs I have no problem doing, but the spring relocation I would much rather bow to someone with higher skills so my car does ride sideways down the road. derek did you get my PM on the parts?

    Back Halfing Question

I have no clue how tall I want to go.... My problem is I have (4) cars all of which have good parts and currently none are ready to run. So I am considering a car consolidation into what I always wanted to make. A true street / strip car with fat tires out back. I guess some would call it...

    Back Halfing Question

Does anyone out there know from experience. Is it possible to back half a car (either a 72 Demon or a 73 Dart Sport) and still retain the stock rear seat? I am trying to determine whether to back half my car (so I am covered for future upgrades or just to do a 3" spring move (now I am...
