    4-Speed Rebuilder Recommendation

The key is to keep it under 150lbs so that you can ship it UPS ground which is hard to do if you crate it. Brewer’s makes a special cardboard box to ship them in that protects the transmission but keeps the weight down. I was driving thru Ohio last month and I stopped by Brewer’s shop and Dan...

    4-Speed Rebuilder Recommendation

I had a reputable shop near Portland , OR that specializes in Muncie’s rebuild it originally. My builder had to send it back to him after it started leaking oil before we even ran it. He “fixed” it and we reinstalled (several years ago). Finally got around to getting the car on the road and she...

    4-Speed Rebuilder Recommendation

I’m looking for someone reputable to rebuild my A833 four-speed transmission. Passon and Brewers are backed up until fall (I can’t even buy one out right). I’m hoping someone can recommend a third option preferably someone with direct experience rebuilding the A833.

    Clutch Master Cylinder Mounting

I saw those those comments as well but the angle seemed to be just about perfect and didn't bind the rod in anyway. I think people were concerned with travel or possibly over-travel but so far it seems good.

    Clutch Master Cylinder Mounting

We used the stock pivot point on the clutch pedal. We cut the rod end of adapter that came with Steve's kit. We used a piece of flat bar to fabricate a piece mimicking the stock clutch pedal rod attachment point and welded it to the piece of thread cut from the rod end. You have to use this...

    Clutch Master Cylinder Mounting

I did not like the thick rubber line that came with the Wilwood remote M/C kit so I got an adapter and threaded it on the barbed bottom of the reservoir and had a hose made to run to the master cylinder:

    Clutch Master Cylinder Mounting

We were happy that the master cylinder and adapter fit without having to relocate my parking brake cable or my stainless brake lines:

    Clutch Master Cylinder Mounting

We used studs purchased from the hose shop to mount the master cylinder to the adapter. The Tilton master cylinder is too compact to use bolts. I also got fittings for the remote master cylinder and outlet port of the master cylinder from the hose shop:

    Clutch Master Cylinder Mounting

We replaced the short line on the throwout bearing with the 24" I bought and had a local hose shop Deering Industries) put a 250 degree fitting on one end. This hose was the perfect length to reach the master cylinder:

We had a successful install of my hydraulic throwout bearing and clutch using Steve's adapter. We used the following parts:

    Passon performance 5 speed

I spoke to him about 2 weeks ago ( I am 400 something on the list). They are testing the new gear sets as we speak. Once he gets up and running I think he could burn through that back-log in a year to a year and a half. "Once he gets up and running" is the operative phrase. I can't throw stones...

24 transmissions per month seems highly optimistic to me (considering his track record).

    Pedal assembly

Brewers has the bushings. The assemblies with the heavier spring have a slightly longer spring mount to pivot point distance. This explains it better than I can: http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/techarticles/drivetrain/mopp_1012_four_speed_a_body_clutch_pedal_adjustment/

4 speed and hurst shifter id

If it is a short shaft it is likely a A body but you should post a some pics to be sure. It is probably best to let others comment on the suitability of OD versus standard gearing as I have no direct experience. I am sure that the search function will turn up some interesting threads.

4 speed and hurst shifter id

"6B198248" is the last 8 of the VIN number. The "6" designates 1976 (vehicle it came out of), the "B" designates Dodges main plant in Hamtramck,MI. "198248" I believe is the sequential serial number of the car.

4 speed and hurst shifter id

It was built mostly likely the end of January, 1976 which I believe makes it an OD unit. "PP833" designates an A833 4-speed, "5298" is Chrysler's manufacture dating system. 7-29-1961 is 0001, so your tranny was built 5297 days after that, which I think is January 29, 1976.
