    Dog Attack

The dogs came out of nowhere at night and were already on top of my dog growling and biting in the span of about five seconds so no time to bribe them with treats. This neighborhood seems to be the area where unwanted pets are dumped off. Constantly raiding the garbage cans out front and one by...

    Dog Attack

The neighbors here have basically only two breeds of dogs that I can tell, if not a chihuahua then some kind of pit bull. The dogs last night jumped us in the span of about five seconds and then ran off so I could not determine the breed but I would guess were medium size around 25-30 lbs.

    Dog Attack

In the first place, when I have the chance, I usually throw a rock or two to discourage the approach of dogs loose in the street (this usually discourages them, but not always). Then I must mention that I have to be careful carrying any kind of a "weapon" to protect us due to a past incident...

I don't think so. I do see a hunting club storefront downtown though.

    Dog Attack

About ten minutes ago my Doberman (on leash as always) and I were out for our evening walk. We were attacked by two dogs in El Centenario on Calle Cuarta between Palo Fierro and Cardon (We live in Mexico near La Paz the finish line of the Baja 1000). This is about the fourth time now in the last...

Another "Is this still available?" Response

In other words, it may very well be an interested party, but someone too lazy to type in their own personal message? And why wouldn't one say instead: "Hey, I'm interested in your item, when can I inspect it please?"

Another "Is this still available?" Response

I just posted a seven year old, 17 foot RV trailer for sale on facebook marketplace. Ten minutes later I rv'd my first so-called response: "Is this still available?. Well, duh, I just posted it minutes ago! I heard somewhere awhile back that responses like that are not genuine, although I don't...

My Fourth Grade Field Trip (Milpitas California Ford Assembly Plant)

Saw Ford Mustangs and Mercury Cougars coming down the same assembly line circa 1967. The assembly plant is now "The Great Mall of the Bay Area". Anyone else tour an assembly plant back then?

    Still Retain Any Kindergarten Memories?

I always wondered how it would be to power-shift a right-hand drive car (i.e. Great Britain, Australia vehicles) using the shift lever in my left-hand.

    Still Retain Any Kindergarten Memories?

i went to public school as a kindergartner as stated above. Then I attended Catholic School grades one through eight (all Presentation Nuns except third grade teacher Miss Hardy). At St. Christopher School in San Jose (graduated 1969) I don't remember any rulers or hitting of students. On the...

    Still Retain Any Kindergarten Memories?

Some of these images may be "false memories", meaning maybe I got them mixed up with dreams (or real scenarios in other places/times). Regardless, this is what I can put together now at the ripe old age of 68. 1) I attended kinder from Fall 1960 to Spring of 1961 at Bagby Elementary in San...

    Sliding Gate Mis-Aligned After Repairs

The bottom wheels, as is, are enclosed in a metal box and use a thru-bolt as an axle. The box is welded into the structure. The wheel could be moved a little inside the box I suppose by moving the hole, but the wheel would hit the "roof" of the box if moved higher more than a little (lowering...

    Sliding Gate Mis-Aligned After Repairs

The wheels at the top just slide and keep the gate parallel to the ground. Trying to use them to bear the weight of the gate would make the gate very difficult to slide.

    Sliding Gate Mis-Aligned After Repairs

The gate has no hinges, it slides back and forth with on wheels on the ground and has wheels above (not weight bearing) that slide in a channel to keep it standing up straight.

    Sliding Gate Mis-Aligned After Repairs

We have two very heavy steel gates at the entrance to our property in Mexico. They meet in the middle and each have a pair sturdy cast iron 4" wheels that ride along angle iron (angle iron is set in concrete along the bottom). Over the last 10-12 years the bottom portion of both gates began to...

Is There a Gardener in the House?

This is a desert area close to the sea, so I suppose it would be a good idea to test both the soil and the city (well) water. Some plants thrive (usually native) and others have constant setbacks here.

Is There a Gardener in the House?

Frustrating things happening in the garden this Spring. First off, the recently planted Guava from the nursery had two stalks, one just shriveled up for no good reason (see photo one-shriveled stalk on the left, still healthy looking stalk on the right). Secondly, after watering two new plants...

    Early vs. Late dusters

Personally, I would purchase the '72 for myself. But the youngster should decide for himself. Not a bad choice either way. But when it comes to classic cars, the older the better (less problems mechanically speaking because less so-called "technology").
