    Engine required GPH

Yeah it wasn't daily driving that had me concerned, but doing hot passes. Out of curiosity, what pump did you replace it with?

    Engine required GPH

Thank you very much! This is some great information! It is a mechanical setup, but if I understand correctly the main factor with that is that at higher rpms that it can fail to pump as efficiently.

    Engine required GPH

Hello guys, So I calculated my required fuel pump gph from engine demand to be 27.5. How much, if at all, am I taking a chance on hurting myself by still running a 25 gph carter fuel pump? When does this calculation really come into play? Just at long WOT would be my guess. Thanks in advance

    Tuning for ram air

Okay cool! Yeah I was figuring Id swap out the rods which should richen out the power band by 6% and the cruising band by 4%

    Tuning for ram air

I get that, but if it's not sealed with it screw up the mixtures?

    Tuning for ram air

Well what it is coming together as is more of a hood scoop that would allow fresh air in rather than an actually tunnel ram. What I mean is at best the air filter would be just tall enough to be level with the hood, so theoretically no air that came in through the scoop would hit the air cleaner...

    Tuning for ram air

Hey guys! I'm putting a custom hood scoop on my car soon so iv been reading up on tuning the carb for it and here's what I understand at the moment. Should richen it out a bit (like 6%) for the denser air and to make sure that the top of the carb sits at least three inches below the scoop to...

eddy carb and eddy intake combo spacer??

Personally I like the carb since it's very street-able. If you're looking for something you can tune more and get more power out of, a holley street avenger or double pumper would do nicely. As for manifolds, everyone and their uncle has an air gap. Don't get me wrong, they are a great manifold...

eddy carb and eddy intake combo spacer??

904 and a 8 3/4 are a good way to go. Has the 904 been rebuilt though? Honestly though, if you are putting in this much effort to swap the engine, put a trans kit in and a beefy rearend, you are really killing it with that manifold. You could probably get a used square bore dual plane for a...

eddy carb and eddy intake combo spacer??

Oh good point, forgot the straight performer was spread

eddy carb and eddy intake combo spacer??

Hahah worlds of difference. What's the rest of the drivetrain? If you really wanted to do a spacer you could go four hole and get an eddy one for like $30. I'm not partial about putting open spacers on dual planes.

eddy carb and eddy intake combo spacer??

You'll get more stepping up to a better manifold. I don't thing you really need a spacer, but if you do, go tapered.

POLL: Which is your favorite carb(s) of choice?

Nah, nah he was just barreling down the strip... At an ET slower than my silverado :D lol

    Spaced out: divided or open

Anyone out there experiment with making their own spacers? Any tips?
  16. fnaramore

    Spaced out: divided or open

Looks like tapered. Again, sadly I don't have space for a 1" spacer. Why I was considering taking a dremel to a 4 hole. Anyone know if that would ruin the fuel restistent properties of the phenolic though?
  17. fnaramore

    Spaced out: divided or open

Thinking about it, might also just take my four hole and then round off the edges some.
  18. fnaramore

    Spaced out: divided or open

See I would love to have a tapered, just not willing to spend the 100 or so for it and would prefer a phenolic one lol the biggest factor really is space though and I really just have a little over 1/2" to work with. At this point it really just is open vs divided. I think without an open below...

    Spaced out: divided or open

The consensus I really came across is that in general Four hole can- Aid in evening out fuel to cylinders at partial throttle Increase low to mid range torque But can also cause air/fuel separation due to causing it to have to take a sharper turn into the runner Open can- Increase mid and...

    Spaced out: divided or open

Hey guys! So I'm revisiting a topic I know I read up on about a year ago, and just felt like "hey, haven't hit my head against the wall recently" lol So bought a four hole 1/2" spacer awhile back, liked it but took it off to replace with too much filter. Now I'm figuring to put another spacer on...

POLL: Which is your favorite carb(s) of choice?

Oh this is the best place to ask opinions about carbs! XD I remember when I first got on here and asked that question, four-five replies in it didnt become much better than this lol. Everyone likes to come out on top, whether it's a competition or not

POLL: Which is your favorite carb(s) of choice?

Know I'm gonna catch flak for this, but had a 570 street avenger on my car, hated it, just didnt want to build power. And it wasn't a case of me not being able to tune because I had two guys (one of whom wouldnt even dare put an edelbrock on a car of his enemy) tune it and same disappointing...

    Secondaries not opening

Well I'll get to testing things when I get home, I'm actually at the beach right now lol just had been pondering it in my head and figured I'd get a good list of things to check from this post

    Secondaries not opening

Alright... Listing here lol 1. Yes if you move the rod or manually open the secondaries you can hear like an air hissing sound 2. Iv checked it several times to insure I am getting WOT 3. There was not a check ball that I know of 4. I have the eddy version of that adapter at the moment, but I'm...

    Secondaries not opening

I know that, its called I take the car out for a spin, punch it and get off the line with low power, 100x less than with my edelbrock. Also, I did feel them open some after I put in the light spring, but it was still pretty pathetic on power.

    Secondaries not opening

Hey guys! So I just put on a holley street avenger 570 and haven't really had any luck getting the secondaries to open. The engine idles and and all perfectly and all the vacuum ports have the plugs that came with it or are hooked up and i even put in the lighter spring so I'm kinda baffled...

    Holley Swap?

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of, thanks Greg. Might be one of those things I just gotta try for myself. Still open to others opinions though!
