    I talked to Randy's ring and pinion, based off my part # it is a Detroit locker. He informed me they do have slop and the Truetrac does as well, but not as much. Nobody seems to be carrying the Dana power-loc's anymore for 30 spline 8 3/4. Everyone that list them shows them as out of stock...

    Yes, it is defintely the true- trac I have now. It does not look at all like the Detroit locker. I bought it in 8/2002. Very little miles on it. Like I said it may be damaged. I guess it should be taken apart and looked at. Than again maybe it has always had slop to it.

    I think that is what I have in my car now. It was bought thru Randys ring and pinion about 5 years ago. I will fish out my receipt to double check. Anyone have one of these to know if there is a little slop in them like the detroit lockers?

    My thought is that it is damaged. I use to hear it release around the corners, but haven't lately. That noise never bothered me. Its the slop. I think it is too much. Maybe a automatic with a stall converter would take up that slack, but 4 spd. you can't have it off the line or **** breaks...

    I ran an 8 3/4 in my cuda for years of weekend racing, behind an automatic with a 489 case(bigger Pinion) there pretty indestructible. I was running 11.20's hitting the slicks hard. Now a 4 spd is different, that is the only time I had problems, and it was on a smaller pinion gear than the 489...
