Go get some plumbers emery cloth, it come in rolls and is about an 1 wide. Rip off a 12" piece and use that to sand it, just wrap around the tube and pull back and forth.

Unfortunately the retail outlets like wallymart and any other hugh chain box stores want the stuff to break or they make no $$$$$$$$. It's all about quantity over quality. If it's this bad now what's it going to be like in 20 years?

Most stuff made in America is crap. I worked for a company called Top End. They made sport wheelchairs. Well the owner was a hack who stole ideas, changed something small and called it his own. We had good welders then who took pride in there work. Big Dummy sold out to a major POS company...
