    I assume you are speaking of compressed thickness.Gaskets do compress when torqued on.

    Mopower. I cannot say this enough. Build a strong bottom end. The bottom end is like the foundation of a building.Weak,it will collapse.Strong it will last a long time.

    Lemme say this.I actually drove a 66 dodge D-dart.It had a super steep geared 8 3/4.a console 4 speed,and that car would haul ***. It wasnt big on the top end but getting there was fun and fast.I actually passed on the car for the princely sum of $100.Sheiot.

    The x designation and casting number were both under the head.

    A friend had a set of 69 x heads.What was interesting was there was no x near the spark plug holes.There was however the correct 894 casting # and the x designation. Hope this helps.

    Verify the plug wires in relation to tdc by removing the #1 spark plug ,And distributor cap.plug the hole with a finger,slowly turn the engine over in the direction of rotation until you feel air pushing your finger out. This will put you close to tdc.Now continue to turn until your timing marks...

    Lookin good! A guy a know had a lil 273 with wiseco pistons,10.5 compression,.484 mp hydraulic cam,LD340 intake. That sucked sounded like a hi revving built 340.
