Input shaft - life left or replace?

If you notice, you can turn the slider sleeve 3? teeth on the inner hub, the keys/locks/struts will be sliding on new surfaces inside the sleeve . I used to juggle high gear syncro to 2nd, as hi was less "stressed".

Input shaft - life left or replace?

Availability is keyword on that particular choice gear. I've had to spray weld the brg surface and dress teeth as shown, to make a trans serviceable, cuz of no availability. Glad it's avail . Never had a Mopar trans pop outta gear. Cheers .

Input shaft - life left or replace?

That's high gear. If it were for my own vehicle, I'd likely sharpen the points and try it, prob be okay. Replacement is fairly easy . I seldom speed/power shift into high gear . jmo

    A833 info

After 50+ yrs there's a chance the guts won't match the case numbers. I have replaced a few broken cases with whatever was on top of the pile, numbers mean nothing. To ID the gears sets, take the side cover off, and compare the markings on the gears to those in the link, to be sure...

833 making odd noise in 2nd gear only

I broke lotsa syncros never had a noise other than the crunch of gear mesh. Heard a few trans with bad bearings, noisy, the noise you describe reminds me of noises from a broken tooth . Drain the oil, look for chunks in the oil, magnetize a screwdriver or Allen key, put it thru the drain hole...

Rebuilt A 833 front oil leak

2 things, there's a seal in the front retainer that may have been missed and should have been replaced. The more likely thing is the snap ring around the bearing was not replaced with the original one from the original bearing. The snap ring that comes with the new bearing is often not narrow...

    833 Front bearing retainer

Those precision rings work fine, the retainer bolts with a suitable "washer" secures the ring(s) to the trans. No big deal. Experience. lol

A833 main case hole pattern PCD, casting SBM/6 bell housing New Zealand

Interesting, thank-you . I had a similar challenge mating a 1st gen FWD 3sge (Beams) and old RWD T50 Toyota trans . I think the only thing I used was the locating pins. Bolt holes etc all moved. I like your style, hotrodder . lol

    Clutch pedal sticks

If the z-bar is installed backwards, or the spring clip missed it's groove, the downrod will bind on the sides of the firewall hole. With headers the z-bar often needs to be "adjusted" to fit between the 2 upper tubes on the collector, or it will bind. Good luck
  24. Inertia

Cracks in front retainer on 4 speed

IIRC, if the snap ring that comes with the bearing is used, it will not fit in the recess of the bearing retainer. It requires using the snap-ring that came with the trans to fit in that retainer. Not sure if that's the result . Good luck .

    What's broke?

Generally a broom handle cut to the right length makes a perfect "arbor" . The cluster , - brgs and all fall to the bottom. Inspecting the shaft will indicate further inspection, but recommended to inspect cluster gear bearing surfaces while apart . Good luck .
