Is anyone else having issues with Remflex gaskets?

I have always ordered mine from Remflex. Re-used several sets that have been disassembled somewhat carefully, but they were still ripped upon removal. I just bolted them back together, and they sealed just fine. I was also careful to not mis-align gasket between the parts, and replaced the ones...

    bait and switch car parts

These Slant 6 Remflex gaskets are great too. Doug Dutra schooled me on the fact that it is essetial to use the correct factory style fasteners and to properly torque them to factory specs. He explained that due to the design, the manifolds kind of float on the head due to heating and cooling...

    bait and switch car parts

"What would you do?" I'd buy Remflex and be done with it. I've never had problems with them. Heck, I often reuse them successfully on my Mopars too. Just have to be careful when dis-assembling, but even when they split in half, They will seal when reassembled without any missing pieces.

Well I think the "fridge" is dying.

Make sure dust etc are no simply blocking the cooling coils underneath or on back of the fridge. I've used both a vacuum and leaf blower to clean mine after I had the same problem you are describing. It returned to normal cooling immediately after. In one instance, it looked like there was...

Where did this trio end up? You don't still have them do you?

Corvette six pack mechanical carb set up on a Chrysler six pack intake...anybody done it?

I had a guy make me a 500cfm center carb for one of my DC set-ups. I never put it on the car, so there it sits in brand new condition with all 3 carbs with the same throttle plates. You can't really tell any difference from looking at them from the outside either.

Corvette six pack mechanical carb set up on a Chrysler six pack intake...anybody done it?

I have a couple sets of DC carbs in excellent condition. They are definitely my favorite six pack carbs.

Mercedes to charge subscription for more power

That's nothing! Just wait until they shut down your electric vehicle because they don't like what you just posted on social media or you oppose some other facet of their control over what used to be one of your revolked freedoms.

    Anyone price motorcycle batteries lately?

I bought a Lithium battery for my bike a few months ago. It wasn't cheap at over $300, but it has over double the cold cranking amps of the best AMG batteries available. Speed costs money.... The bike cranks over and starts dramatically faster than any previous battery I've run. It's also much...

    So I watched Bullit Tonight!

Some time ago I read or watched a video that stated they had to keep stopping the Charger to let the Mustang catch up. They said the Charger was so much faster, cornered way better and braked much better and was hands down a superior driving experience.

    rear brakes

There should be a small rubber boot that covers a small valve that looks very similar to a schrader valve on an inner tube. If memory serves, The purpose is to allow the brake system to retain function in case the front or rear brake circuit has a catastrophic failure and loss of fluid. The...

1300 hp mercury comet brake failure crash

They lost me at deciding to taking out the car with a sticking throttle on a blown 600+ cubic inch motor. The part about intentionally riding the brakes because of the sticking throttle was over the top. The front rotors and calipers look WAY to small for anything over 2000 pounds. They look...

Looking for suggestions in San Francisco

Rusty, I like to see the places the black Charger had to pull over and wait for that green Mustang to catch up. Those spots were about every other block.

    Chainsaw Bar Oil Question

I ran out of bar oil once, so I used some Redline synthetic 90wt gear oil I had left over. My chains began lasting 5 times as long without adjustment to compensate for stretch. It lasted significantly longer before needing to be topped off too. Impressed with how well it worked on my chain...

    No reply post

I will ignore a person who posts more than a page of ads, because it irritates me. All their other response posts still show up regardless. It just removes their prolific ads. I understand the importance of supporting the forum, but selfishly didn't renew my Gold Member status when it expired...

Have a CPAP Machine? Beware of GAME OVER

Thanks for the good spell-check catch! I've been pronouncing it wrong for decades by saying, "gaul" instead of "gall". Although, the next thing you know, some people might have the unmitigated gall to start correcting your grammar for you. Plenty of things to worry about besides the Gauls...

The second muscle car era is about over?

Those two failures are two too many, especially Fukishima, where they are one earthquake or removal mistake away from triggering the jumbled fuel rods at the bottom of what was once a containment vessel into reaching critical mass which would result in them burning and spewing massive amounts of...

The second muscle car era is about over?

It's a fool's errand. They can't even keep the power on in the summer in Silicon Valley during the summer now and they shut it off for days if there's any kind of wind storm because the trees make contact with the high voltage wires and start fires they get sued for. 80% of the cars in our...

How do we blend race car and comfort?

Exactly, I pulled 3 car lengths out of the hole on it, but around 11 seconds later, I heard that blue Hellcat screaming up on me from behind at the end of the 1/4 mile. He blew past me doing 20 or 25 miles per hour faster than I was going, but not until I past the finish line first. It was...

How do we blend race car and comfort?

My '68 has 4.30's, a high-quality 3800 stall lock-up converter, a 2004R Stage 2 overdrive trans from Extreme Automatics, properly adjusted slapper bars and 275/60-15 Nitto Drag Radials powered by a 408" Magnum with EFI and a 250'ish duration roller cam on a 108* LSA with nearly .600 lift. I've...

How do we blend race car and comfort?

anyone own rental properties on here?

Single family, no. A duplex, no. Invest in a triplex at a minimum, a fourplex is even better. More than 4 requires different financing. It's best if you live in one of the units or are nearby. Best to be handy to save $. Positive cash flow is better than negative, but its the depreciation of...

    Moog...worth the hassle/$$

I will never use Moog again. My lower ball joints from them were falling apart in the box. I had just changed my lower ball joints a few thousand miles earlier with Moog, and they were worn beyond spec within a few thousand miles. Two bad sets in as many tries, inexcusable. I ended up using...

Talk about bucking conventional thinking!!! Oil filters

They left out the Jomar 100% No-Bypass filters. All 5 of theses filters and all the cut open filters shown, bypass unfiltered oil. Period.

    I drove too fast yesterday!

Good point. I go through rears about every 2 years, but the fronts are 4 years old now. Rears are rated at 186 mph but fronts are only rated to 149 mph. Not sure how far above that I actually spun her up to. The factory speedo's are kind of happy. The car kinda squatted down above 135 and felt...
