Currently I have my 8 3/4 A body rear end with Yukon big bolt axles installed with no brakes installed. I have mini tubbed the car. What I'm trying to accomplish is figuring out what width I need to cut another housing to. I see according to your chart it would be 56 3/4 wide with brakes.

How much do drum brakes add to the width of an 8 3/4 rear end?? Does adding disc brakes to the rear add to the width also and how much?? Thanks Jeff

Check the Eastwood website. They have a paint for master cylinders.

I have mine in the wrong way and other than the light coming on it works fine.

As long as you have a push rod from a manual master cylinder it should work.

The 1 1/4 offset that most of the posts are about is referring to the rear drums. Fronts had wider pads than the rears.

So you can keep your wheels look into SSBC and Wilwood for conversion kits to disk brakes. Also check into the scarebird kits.

I had mine on it's side. If it was going to leak it should have in that position. Personally I think you should be ok.

I would think the stock drum brake distribution valve should work just fine. All it does is send fluid to the 4 brakes. For the rear you will probably need to add an inline adjustable proportioning valve. Just buy your line buy the roll and make your own. We do it all the time on the cars we...

I did the conversion on my 68 Dart. You will NOT be able to use 14" wheels afterward. The will hit the calipers.

Wilwood makes a kit also. The only thing with them is the use 1/2" instead of 7/16"s. Summitt has them in their cataloge or on the website. I'm running this kit on the front of my 68 GTS.

Your master cylinder bore size will depend if your brakes are power assisted or not.

On my first setup I had the aftermarket valve you have pictured installed in the brake line between the master cylinder and the stock factory distribubution valve.

I always just used a pair of pliers.

There are lots of parts cars out there. I just sold a hub to a member here.

I have the same problem on my car. Pretty unimpressed with the system.

Most of the time when I set mine I pump the brakes 3 times then depress the button. Even then a lot of times I will have to jab the brake petal to get it to hold.

I use Dot 4 in my stuff.

I believe they will work.

I run Dot 4 in both my darts.

What year and make are your backing plates? Be specific if you can cause it will aid in your search. What size are the shoes? 11X 2.5 or 11X3" Do you have any Oreilly's parts stores close by?

Now that you have all the learning out of the way the other side will be a cake walk. I did this same conversion about 3 years ago and they work fine. Good Luck.
