Bob, I don't have an answer regarding the use of adapters. Most will tell you not to. My suggestion is to find a pair of axles from a 73 and later A body 7 1/4 rear end and install them.

Drag or cornering tire??

Had 235/60/14's on all four corners on mine for a while. No rubs using the 14x5.5 wheel. I think the tire was to big for the rim though. This was on a 68 dart same as 69.

I have 255/60/15 drag radials on the back of my 68 dart with 15 x 7 with 4.5" backspacing on mine.

No rubbing at all with a stock length 8 3/4 with yukon lbp axles and green bearings. But I do have SS springs on it. 002 and 003 springs

I do have SS springs on mine with no rubbing.

I'm running 255/60-15 Mikey drag radials on the back of my 68 GTS. They are mounted on 15X7's with 4.5" backspacing. Clearance all around without rolling fenders. I did put a 1/2" spacer between the front hangar and the body just to center the wheel better.

I've good luck with Mikey drag radials.

The wheels are plenty wide enough for the tire size. If your wheelwells and funds allow you could go bigger.

They should be small bolt pattern wheels correct?

Are you planning on running these on the rear? Is the rear end narrowed and the car tubbed?

I had a set of ET Unilug mags like that back in the day. They had a plastic cap that snapped in.

Longer Studs? A lot will depend on the type of lug nuts your new wheels take. If they are conical seat(stock type) you will figure it out when you try to install them. Shank type probably not.

You can put 245's or 255's on those 15X7's and they will clear. Some guys are even running 275's.

Wheel Viniques makes a rally wheel in14X6, X7, X8. They are available in silver power coat for around $95ea or chrome $125ea from Summitt. The 68 and 69 gts cars and I'm sure some later years with 340's had the 5.5in wheel.

To run an 8" wheel you will most likely need to move the springs in with the offset shackle package. You will need to run an wheel with at least 4.5" backspacing. Anything less you will be into the outer fenderwells. Get one of those Percy Wheel Rite wheel measuring tools from Summitt of Jegs...

As I found with my dart you are limited on tire size unless you want to minitub. I'm currently running 255/60/15 mickey thompson drag radials. I also have run drag slicks that were 26/8.5/15. 26X10.5 most likely won't fit but each dart is a little different.

What width of wheel are you running with the 4.75 backspacing? It might make a difference depending if they are 7's or 8's.
