    Slant 6 225 swap

either way you go it will be alot of work. a nice set of rearend gears such as 3:55s will really wake your car up. there are some wicked turbo slant sixes out there, check out youtube. if you want to do the V8 swap, then go for a 360 over a 318. it wont be any more work to install it in your car...

    Slant 6 225 swap

it can be done, you will need new motor mounts (schumacher),V8 radiator, you will want at least an 8.25 rearend as a 7.25 might not hold up too long, hopefully you get the transmission along with your 318 to make things go smoother as well.might need a driveshaft. i have never done this swap so...

225 Slant six with trans value

i have an extra complete running slant that i have posted for around 175. with absolutely no interest shown. if it were mine i would ask 300. and be very flexible.the low mileage may be appealing to some.

Sorry to revisit an old debate but...

we dont hate on you, who doesnt love the power and rumble of a v8. if his car was already a v8, then yeah build it. but the way i look at it, when money is an issue, then have fun with what you already got under the hood. i was always the guy that had to have a 340 or 360 in my cars, but i have...

Sorry to revisit an old debate but...

keep the slant! maybe get some head work done to boost compression , you got some good speed parts already. dont know what you got for gears , but a set of 3:55s will make a nice difference in acceleration.

    Build Cost

yeah, i read about it, just didnt put 2 and 2 together.

    Build Cost

cool, your that much farther ahead. if ya got an extra cylinder head laying around, you could get it done at a machine shop while you drive the car if its on the road.

    Build Cost

slant 6, spend the money on the cylinder head to get the compression up, think about a super six intake or something to support a small 4 bbl, and free up the exhaust. of course a cam swap always helps. biggest thing , get yourself some good rearend gears like 3:55s or 3:91s. theres always the...

    Is it smart???

i believe a turbo on my slant would make me happy! i miss my v8s ,but for me its time for something different and mainly economical.i was wondering about a 7.25 rear holding up though. i dont have much money for my car anymore, so this makes sense to me.i have also read about making a buick 3.8...

Slant 6 value in the market

i was always a v8 guy, but my slant has grown on me. of course, i hardly ever break the speed limit anymore. im at the point that i look for fuel mileage gains over hp gains although a few of them go hand in hand.

    Slant 6 Value?

i paid 125. recently for a complete running slant out of an 85 van.

    Cheapest ways to increase power

get yourself the super six setup (factory 2 bbl), free up the exhaust with a performance muffler like a cherry bomb or something (if you have more time than money, you can gasket match your manifolds to try to get them to flow a little better, add a windage tray, then if money allows get a...

    1968 Slant Six Dart Survivor

wow, that dart looks great, very cool!
  16. justin hughes

    my slant wont turn over!

the dart that i just picked up had a froze up motor from sitting for over 10 years. i couldnt budge it either, so i used marvel mystery oil (pretty much same as tranny fluid i think) i let it sit in the cylinders for about a week with the plugs just loosely threaded in. went out just to see if i...

    How much?

i paid 125. for a good running slant 6 out of an 85 van. i bought it for a spare that i might build up someday. seems like the trans might be worth close to the same as the motor. i wouldnt pay more than i did unless i was in a real bind or if it had the super six setup (2 bbl) on it, i was also...

    I could use your opinion

if it were me , i would install a 225 and just put the 170 in storage for a possible future project.

    /6 cost

if you dont have a rod knock or blowing black smoke out of the exhaust, then i would find a good mechanic to diagnose your problem. you can research most garages online to find customer complaints. i picked up a running slant 6 off craigslist for 175. from an 85 van. i just have it as a spare...

    Aspen wagon /6 w 4speed value?

i would definetly pull it and sell it if you dont want to use it yourself. stuff like that is getting harder to find by the day.

what to do with the six

depending on how far you want to go and the miles that are on it, you could replace the timing chain and have a basic valve job done. but if you want it to be mean , then you will want to have the head shaved to boost compression and have bigger valves , heavier spring installed as you will most...

that is some nice eye candy. should be a fun ride.

timing the same for headers set up? lack power?

from what ive heard about slant 6s is that they need some back pressure. my guess would be that the exhaust might be a little too free flowing. not sure about your muffler choice, or pipe diameter so this is just an educated guess. as far as timing, you can always try bumping it up a little.dont...

    problem with a /6 carb..

very slim chance might be the fuel in your tank is low and sloshing away from the pickup when you turn a corner.

Slant 6 talk; My first post

a built slant to me has the wow factor when you go to a car show and everything has a v8 except for one. i love the power of a built v8, but at this point i want to see what i can get out of a 6 and still be able to afford gas. there are no drag strips near me and im old enough to know better...

how to make the /6 a powerhouse

a set of 3:55 gears will wake the car up. im starting with basic bolt ons on my slant as money will allow. i got a super six setup, next i want to try the dutra duals, clutch fan, windage tray. if you still have points, then you should switch to electronic. im basically trying to free up power...
