Eddy heads and what else !!

First of all, why are you pulling the heads? Their just going to put heli coils in your aluminumm heads, that can be done with them installed! My next question is why not have the heads checked for flatness if you must remove them, dont just automaticly have them resurfaced, you start cutting...

    serious carb issues

I've been dealing with carb problems for over a week and using the info fellow FABO members have given me is working. You need to open up the secondarys till you see the slot. Adjust you primary to lower the idle. Check your vacuum at idle, sounds like you need to change the power valve, if...

360 tuning issues - cold weather driving

Try this, When the engine is cold take off the air filter, start the engine and see how far the choke is open. There should be at least an 1/8" gap between the choke flap and the air horn. If not, you will need to loosen up the choke housing and rotate it slightly till you get the gap. Worth...

    milk chocolate oil II

If you think about it, running the engine doesn't aireate the oil. The only thing that turns oil to milk chocolate is moisture! I would spend the time and money to change the oil and the filter, prime it again, and if you have the same problem, you have a problem. Think positive, might just have...

    Poor throttle response

I've tried different pump cams but only on the primary, It is a quick fuel carb, maybe 500cc pumps and bigger nozzels would be the way to go. Would I go to 50cc on both primary and secondary?

    Oil Leak At Valve Cover

The problem is with the outside lip of the valve cover its hitting the maniforld before the gasket is properly squeezed between it and the head. You can try a thicker cover gasket like the felpro units or grinding down that lip. Good luck!

    440 vrs RPM'S

Everybody is making great sense. I tend to believe the best thing I could do is change the cam to something with a different power band than the 4500 to 8500 I have and probably the intake as well. If i went with a cam that made the most horsepower between lets say 3500 to 6500rpms, would my...

flat tappet cam, comp valve job, intake ports on heads smmothed matched to intake manifold. As for mph I've never had it to the strip, plans to trailer it there this summer in the works, just to see what it runs. Wish I was closer than a two and a half hour drive to the nearest strip.

    440 vrs RPM'S

Thanks daredevil, Did you install the external pump system? And what was your cost and the mods involved? The more imput I'm getting from all of you, The more nervous I'm getting about even turning over 6500 rpms, should I be?

    440 vrs RPM'S

More about the engine, the rods are h beam, valves are not titanium, the cam is pretty radical ( I dont have the specs with me right now. Oiling is Melling high volume pump, large pickup and large capacity pan with windage tray. Its not that I want the high rpms, this engine was put together...

    440 vrs RPM'S

Whats your opinion? I have a well built 440, good Eagle bottom end, buillet timing gears, sold lifter cam, Harland and Sharp roller rockers, reworked Eddy heads, you know good stuff. Every thing is set up for a power band of 4500rpms to 8500rpms. This motor pulls strong in the upper rpm range...

    Oil Additive

Just my opinion, I think theres a place for additives but mostly for high mileage engines with some problems like smoking, oil consumption, et. If an engine is in good condition a good synthetic oil like Q or Royal Purple(which I use) is all you need. Anthything else is a waste of money!

    adjusting valves

Don't know what make of cam you have, does'nt matter. Go to crane cams web site. They have detailed instructions on setting valves with flat tappets.
