    Mechanical Fan VS Electric Fan

Per request, I'm running a 12.5 to1 comp 440, with aluminum heads. I have a CSR electric pump, and BeCool radiator and dual 12" fans with shroud. The fans are thermostatly controled but I also wired in a seperate on/off for the fans. The advantages of this set up is I can shut the engine off...

    ally pumps

A t/stat acts as a restrictor for the cooling system to slow the flow thru the radiator allowing it to cool the liquid more. With out that restriction your engine will run hotter.

    is 205degrees to hot?

Interesting, I ran an autometer manual gauge and converted every thing in my dash to electric. Manual guage always read 180 degress regardless of out side temp, the electric gauge reads 205 degrees, I changed nothing else. If your really concerned check temp in radiator with a thermometer, see...

    is 205degrees to hot?

If your T/stat is 195 degree, looks about right. What are you using for a gauge? Might try a 180 degree T/stat.

How do you tell for sure if fan is pusher, puller or both?

switch the wires around, I have a couple of extra fans in my garage that depending on which wire is hot determines which way they rotate

    Overheating race car

I use a CSR wp also, have you tried going to a smaller restriction disc in the t/stat . Slowing down water movement will allow more time in the rad to cool!

    Ditch the Thermostat?

It also helps restrick coolant flow so it stays in the radiator longer to cool. Removing it could result in the coolant moving so fast thru the radiator, you'll overheat.

68 Cuda Max radiator size ?

I have a 67 with a 440, I went with a BeCool radiator and dual 11 inch fans in a shroud. I was a bit pricey but totally took care of the issue. The set up was for an A body, no trimming needed, just drill a hole in each frame rail for the lower mounting to set in. BeCool offered it in a complete...

Electric fan in lieu of Flex Fan

I agree with the statment that everyones situation is different. Usually a fan/shoud combo is the least expensive way to go. It's amazing how important a shoud is to cooling. I have a serious 440 with 12.5 to 1 comp and I started witha crossflow radiator and a pusher and a puller fan, it wasn't...

Big Block Electric Water Pump ?

I'm using a CSR on my big block, with the right restrictor plate it runs 185 to 190 degrees all day. The great thing about it, when I shut the engine off and the cooling fans are still on because their on a temp senor, I can keep the wate circulating and I know every thing has cooled down and...
