Tips and Pics of custom headers

Nice work! Subscribed, as i have a couple vehicles to do this to. (would anyone have guessed that a 97' Phord Explorer 5.0 has less room for headers than an early a??) About how much time do you have in them?

    So, I'm back again!

Good to see you are back! That is an awesome deal, reminds me of when I was a senior (1997) and I got the exact same deal, but it was with a 72 swinger! A 2dr, but the ugliest combo...pale yellow with green interior!

    1966 Valiant...should I part or fix it?

Well...made the decision today to save the Valiant!! It may be a few months before I start on it, but I will. Anyone need some nice 14x7 SBP aluminum slots? Thats the only thing that I have for the car that I'm not using.

    1966 Valiant...should I part or fix it?

Simmer down!! haha. I didn't check out the cop thread, so its kind of irrelevent to me, I just check this thread to help me make a decision about my car. Nobody on here is going to hurt my feelings, so all of you guys are fine!! I really would like to practice my welding skills, fabricating...

    1966 Valiant...should I part or fix it?

I think thats what I'm going to do. Russ, I'll get some pics asap for you of the grilles. Greenhornet, same for you. It may be a day or two, my dryer just quit so I have to go get a new one. Its always something. Anyone else? The only thing I'm keeping is the rearend. Oh, its got a blue...

    1966 Valiant...should I part or fix it?

Hey everyone! I haven't been on here much in the past few months, working alot and trying to straighten my life up. Finally putting my Dart in storage so it isn't sitting outside anymore, at least until I get another garage. That leads me to my Valiant. I have a 66 Valiant, slant six, 3 on the...

    Early A shifter hump question...

They list the one in brewers as a 63-66, but it has the oval hole for the 66 and up according to to the pic. I think I'll do that. Thanks!

    Early A shifter hump question...

I saw somewhere that the 63-65, 66, and 67-up floor shifter humps are different. I have a 66 Valiant that I'm putting the shifter on the floor, and I was wondering how close the 67-and up humps are to the 66? Completely different, or could I modifiy and make it work? Or should I just get the...

Finally decided on what to do!

Thanks memike!! And I'll give you the car lengths you want...hope its not TOO many! Haha. I have to say, the first thing I thought of when I saw this for sale was Victoria and 66340sedan's Valiant. For some reason, I love the 66 post cars. Maybe because I don't see too many? I plan on...

oh, and cudaguy, you can't be jealous! I wish my Valiant was as clean as your car! I like how your Cuda looks!

Finally decided on what to do!

Wow! Pettybludart, it does seem like we have the same ideas! I checked out your spring relocation thread, there is ALOT of useful info on there. I gotta get my Dart back together, then wait for warm weather and I can start on the Valiant! Right now, I don't have a garage, so I'll spend all...

Finally decided on what to do!

Thanks!! I have these awesome visions of a caged, blue valiant with a nasty stroker and 4-spd, I can't wait! This is the first time I've attempted anything like this, most of my cars have been left stock body-wise, I've never moved in wheelwells, etc. This way, I don't have to cut up my Dart...

Oh, and it will be a 4-speed. I already have one of those lying around too.

Finally decided on what to do!

As some of you know, I picked up a 45K mile slant 6/3 on the tree 1966 Valiant a few months ago. Its been sitting, for the most part. I just haven't been able to decide what to do with it. Its a 2dr post, radio delete, manual steering/brakes, its as stripped down as you can get. Since I am...

Just picked up a 66 Valiant

Thats a pretty cool website Hell Fish! The biggest reason I was going to swap out the LCAs is the front suspension on my Dart is already done, new bushings, etc, so I figured I'd swap all of it over to the Valiant.

ocdart, thats pretty much what happened with me. Kinda weird tho, I get along better with my ex wife now than I ever have. Like you said, it is alot of work, but I love it. I even left it up to my son as to buying the Valiant. He can't wait to ride in it!!

Just picked up a 66 Valiant

Thanks Small Block! Luckily, the salt didn't get it too bad. It was in Nevada for the first half of its life, which I guess that explains the faded paint and dried vinyl. After that it came to Pittsburgh, and that killed the front fenders and splash shields. Also the tops of the inner...

Just picked up a 66 Valiant

Thanks! I thought of that after I sent the email, I remembered my Dart had a dropped link with a slant 6, too. Come to think of it, I have never honestly seen a straight center link. Will the lower control arms from my 72 work with on the 66 as well? I will be rebuilding a set for my 72 with...

Just picked up a 66 Valiant

Thanks camd64!! I've been wondering about that since I bought it haha. So far, here is the parts list I have for it...OEM 340 T-bars, 72' 4-pistons brakes with less than 10K miles on the ball joints, poly bushings, etc, 69 8.75" w 3.23 open 489 case and 10" drums, 70' 318 I just rebuilt with...

Just picked up a 66 Valiant

Thanks Vic and Pettyblu! The more I look at the car, the more excited I get about the resto. After driving it, I almost want to keep the slant six in it. Almost. Oh, and slantscamp, I may take you up on the offer. Between the lack of noise coming from the engine, etc, and no radio, I was...

Oh, and before I tackle the cleaning, cavemanmoron, thanks for the help with trying to figure out what six is in it! I'll be looking at it tomorrow to check out the hose and make sure it is a 225. I checked out your pic, man your Valiant is nice too!! I hope I can get mine looking like that...

Just picked up a 66 Valiant

Ok, ok here are some pics!! :) Decoding the vin, the VL21B6 tells me it is the 225, I don't know whether it is the 3spd manual or if it has different gears, or its just lighter, or what, but it seems MUCH perkier than the 225 was in my 72' Dart with an automatic and 2.76's. I didn't do much...

Just picked up a 66 Valiant

Memike, I forgot to add, it is a sedan, with 3 on the column. I'm not sure what slant 6 is in it, the air cleaner is a really small one with 225 Super Six on it. Its only a one barrel. I'm on my way to go check it out some more now, its at my brothers. It has bad wheel bearings, so I don't...

Just picked up a 66 Valiant

Memike, your car looks awesome!! I hope mine looks that good eventually. I drove it home today, the brakes were...less than adequate, but I made it home. Needs some seat covers. I cannot believe how easy the manual steering is!! The engine seems nice and tight, everything is much newer...

I think I'll keep the 360 off to the side, I just rebuilt a 318, that will do fine in it with a 4-speed and 3.23 gears.

Just picked up a 66 Valiant

I was at a swap meet in Canfield, Ohio today, and as usual, there was basically nothing for Mopars there. I got a set of MP Ductile Iron 4-bolt main caps for my 408 build for $100, NIB. I saw rain heading in, and was about to give up, when I saw some guy towing in a 1966 Valiant. My 8 year...
