    Elevator Progress

Single hoist on a turnaround. The platform will have a short segment on the wall side mounted via piano hinge that falls into place when it reaches the upper level. Theoretically the turnaround doubles the capacity of the winch but I don't plan to exceed its original rating of 1500#.

    Elevator Progress

Been trying to upload these shots for a week but my darn yahoo account won't work from my phone for some reason.... Diagonal braces were added under the platform and a latch to hold it in the folded position. Got a little dizzy upstairs it seems....

    Why the extra hole?

Probably to keep it from rotating or shifting during the stamping process.....

    Elevator Progress

I finally got it sorted out in my head and laid out some metal. I spent most of my long weekend fabbing parts, drilling holes and welding but the basic trolley is up and running. All I need to do now is add the fold down platform and a few reinforcement braces.

    Crimping Tool

My favorite crimping tool is an older MAC tooth type. Always make sure the seam in the component is opposite the tooth and use shrink tube. No problems.

    Bottle Jack / Jackstand Combo

If you are too lazy or stupid to block your car when using a hydraulic jack this is a good thing. The side loading on that cast connector worries me a lot! I would also hate to have to lug two of these around VS two regular stands and a single jack. The ability to pull the jack and use it...

    Cordless impact driver recommendation?

I've seen these HF units on sale for $99 a few times. I'd like to hear from anyone that has one. I have a couple of their 1/4" drive units that I've been using for a couple of years with great success. The short comings always seems to be the battery charger. You must not over charge or forget...

Anyone own Eastwood welder-spool gun combo?

I used to run a spool gun on reefer trailer floor plate, side rails etc and other than the bulk of it pretty nice work.

Anyone own Eastwood welder-spool gun combo?

I had to replace my MAC 110 wire welder several years ago. It was an excellent machine and welded aluminum very well. The Clark machine I have now is fine for mild steel but just doesn't cut it on aluminum (failure of research on my part). I am wanting to get a 220 volt machine to handle some...

5HP air compressor electric motor ?

Last one I got was from Tractor Supply. Every time I painted a car with my 60 gallon unit I went trough a motor so I bought the warranty the second time and they sent me a check to buy a new motor when I painted the Dart. Now I run a $99 gas engine on a v twin pump mounted to a 500 gallon...

    sand blasting slow

Another issue is the feed tube often collapses if it doesn't have a spring inside.... you may have to cover the tip and pull the trigger to flush out any debris that may be blocking the feed as well.

    Split lock washers do nothing?

I used the split washers as a thrust spring against a flat washer on the springer fork setup on my mini chopper. As long as they are still sharp and not sprung they do the job within design limits.

    car painting tool problem

There are phase converters but I don't know how much efficiency they rob or if it will work in your application. I got tired of burning up motors when I painted cars so I put one of those $99 6.5 gas engines on the big V-twin compressor Harbor freight sells and stuck that on top of an old 500...

    Metal building condensation

I had the ceiling insulated on my 60 X 40 but not the walls. I will spray the walls once I am happy with all the conduit and electrical. So far no moisture issues other than a bit of water coming in around the chimney for the stove in the shop area.

    Hey Del 110-220 piggy back?

I think I'm clear on what you are saying there. My Shop is on its own box and I do have access to all 4 wires in the circuit so it should be pretty straight forward from there. I'm no electrician but I have been playing one with some help from friends that are. Always good to have input from...

    Hey Del 110-220 piggy back?

My neutral and ground are one in the same, in other words the white and the plain copper both tie into the ground strip in the box. All I would do is pull off one side of the 220 and from the white common and of course still twist the plain coppers together. It seems such a waste of 8ga wire not...
