    carby size help

452 is not a closed chamber head. Any good 750 will feed that engine well. Remember you have a shorter stroke than most brand X small blocks so it will want to wind up!

Tuning Question on Nozzle Size, Stall etc

I'm running a Proform 900 with a 50 cc front pump and 37 nozzle with a home made cam and 30 cc rear with 32 nozzle on a 452. It's just about right with the engine up to temp but I'd like to use a hollow screw on the front nozzle but all the ones I find are oversize. That no stall converter is...

Next step for more power (383)

383s like to wind and 3.91 on up to 4.30 gears will give it more go as well.... It would also love a tunnel ram with single or dual carbs! Usually a 50 HP bolt on that doesn't need refilling.

    Possible 451 build options

The only cutting of the weights should be for balancing. The two engines use the same oil pan and windage trays. The main journals need turning to size and there is the option of Chevy rod journal size to make a 470....

    440 ignition

You are pretty much stuck with the aftermarket replacement pieces..... like the Cardone Part # 30-3896 or Spectra CH-14..... One thing to check is rotor indexing when you get one of these. Some are put together from mismatched piles of parts and can cross fire in the cap.

    440 ignition

Run the OEM electronic distributor with the GM HEI module remote mounted on a heat sink. This allows you to drop the ballast resistor and gain spark power. Check with TrailBeast, he sells a kit I believe.... This is a little over kill on the heatsink. You will want an E-core style coil with this...

Cylinder Head Death Match..Indy 440-SR 295 CNC vs. TFS 240

I think TF should donate heads for the comparison! Size is not everything so if these flow comparably with less cross section the low end manners and torque should be superior.....

    Low Deck 400 Builds

Years ago a friend of mine with a machine shop ran across a set of 0.040 over very low compression 440 pistons. I picked them up for cheap. I wish I remembered the compression height. I bored the 400 0.020 and the 440 pistons came out at zero deck! 906 heads were used. I had it all balanced with...

    building a 383

Check your valve shrouding with the Stealths on the 383. Probably some flow to be gained with bore notching. I even do it on 440 and 400 blocks when I can spare the CCs. The head gasket will show you where...

    whats the difference....I dont know

I've used the 68-70 B body manifolds on several of these with 440s. I did grind the manifold a little but I also used elephant ear mounts that allowed me to move the engine over a little too.

    whats the difference....I dont know

Because the deck of the block is lower on B vs RB which means the RB (440)engine is about an inch wider.

    383 engine noise question

I built a few "loose" engines with the pistons in backwards and they would make a kind of hollow knocking sound until they warmed up and the pistons expanded a bit. Looking forward to the report.
