The latest "surprise" putting my 70 Duster back together. I found a nice antenna mast a while ago and decided to do an easy job for a change with "no chance of anything going wrong" by just screwing the darn thing into the base, only to find that the base does not have threads.
Looks like maybe...
thanks again guys....RJS I can help you with that but not until Tuesday. Let me know if you still need the measurement. I got hold of a long cable length mirror now I need to get another new glass to complete the switch-over. Aye Carumba.
On that note if anyone knows of a crimp clamp or...
Becoming embarrassed about how much posting I've been doing....
'70 Duster. I'm saying that with what I have there is NO WAY that my left remote, round mirror is going to play nicely with the window. I find no way to position the cables out of the way enough so that the window doesn't hit them...
Thanks Tony that's encouraging I guess. I intended to hire someone to do it but the first (and last) idiot I called gave me the usual BS about how they can't warranty it or guarantee they won't break it etc. Translated this means "If i can't bill 600 bucks to the insurance company you're on...
Been spending a lot of time reading all the threads about windshield install stuff for the last few weeks and I was hoping to be ready to go tomorrow.
Stumped already....Did a quick test fit of the new weatherstrip. What I'm puzzled about is while the w/strip clearly fits into the "pinch weld"...
Thanks Rick. Yeah some kind of adjustment or parts issue. I gave-up, moved to the right side and everything on that side came out great. Looking for another lift channel. I think that might be the culprit. Thanks for the FSM idea. I have one but for some reason never think to go to it.
Yet another repro item that doesn't seem to work. Not fair to say who I got them from since I'm not 100% sure (just threw-out the package yesterday) but I'm fairly certain they are the ones that most guys say are great (the ones at the "top" of everyone's list)
They are so tight against the...
BTW (again this info is for my '70) to do it "correctly" you will need to order another retainer kit. They used 2 of the stud/nut type ones on each side of the car. The plastic ones are NOT USED. Instead they used the special screw that I mentioned above. Of course no reason not to use the...
Mine is a '70. I'm actually installing the top now so I don't have pics of the installed moldings yet but maybe this will help if I succeed at posting the pictures. It might not matter where you put the holes, except that I think you will need to access the retainers from inside the car so...
Actually I just saw a pair of scissors on Ebay that I'm looking at. The title was
"Scissors for cutting the vinyl top on your Mopar, Dart, Duster, Challenger, Cuda, Roadrunner 340, 383, 440, HEMI Car"
Only $175.00
Thanks for the input sleeper. To be honest, the top was one of the "negatives" when I considered buying the car. The other was the column shift. To change either would be entirely illegal for this restoration of a car that still had the AM radio in the dash. I've since changed my mind on...
For a full vinyl top, most places show a 36 or a 41" center width. The guy I ordered it from shows only one choice ("regular seam").
It came in yesterday and it's 41". BTW the VT on my car was gone when I got it so I don't know if it was 36 or 41 originally.
My concern with this is that the...
Car back from body and paint with all panels fitting nicely, but after installing new trunk weatherstrip (SoffSeal I think) my deck lid is way too high all around. Probably an eighth to a quarter inch
Adjusting the obvious way by loosening the lid-to-hinge bolts while "an assistant" pushed down...
