    Is this engine recoverable?

Put some feelers out on the interwebs. Somebody out there has a running slant that they pulled for a V8. You may be able to get it dirt cheap to near free. Then its drop it in and go. Then if you want to do a V8 later on, you got a running driving car as you save up parts for a swap. Rusty is...

    Is this engine recoverable?

Your right. Different strokes for different folks, but nothing is more satisfying to me than the dull thud a slant sux makes when I kick it off the back of my scrap trailer. I had a nice 225 out of my 67 barracuda. Nobody wanted it. Even for free. I removed the alternator, carb, distributor, and...

what's the favorite replacment starter for these sixes?

I sold all my date coded big dawg mopar gravel grinders. They were good for their time, and still are on full restorations. I plan to drive my junk a lot if I can ever get it done. I want parts I can easily get replacements for. Sure theres plenty of gravel grinders still out there, but theres...

    Fast rebuild?

I use this with my supervisors at work. I draw a triangle with one of those words on each tip. I tell em "you can only pick two". They usually want a special project done fast and good, so I tell em, its gonna cost you. I need overtime out of the deal. So it ain't gonna be cheap.

    Fast rebuild?

I did that once. They had my 360 block and rotating assembly 6 months. It's like paint jail for engines lol. Besides lack of money, time, or not enough of it to get things done also causes them to become garage ornaments.

    Fast rebuild?

I wouldent waste a whole lot of money rebuilding it. You stated a V8 isnt in the cards right now. I am assuming it's a low funds issue. If you spend the cash getting machine work done and rebuilding it, that puts the V8 further away. A known good running slanty should not cost you anymore than a...

    Fast rebuild?

The best advice right here. Buy a known good used engine. Better yet if you can hear it run. Rebuilding and machining isnt cheap. A reputable shop isnt going to cut corners for you to do a "quickee rebuild". It's their reputation on the line. This means quality machine work costs you the...

68 Barracuda Slant Six Automatic Transmission

Do an A833 4 speed O/D out of a Volare/Aspen with slant 6. Then you can use an A body slant 6 zee bar, 67-72 A body clutch pedals, down rod, and 67-74 A body floor shift plate. Stock A /F body shifter should clear a bench seat. This way you can use this transmission for a V8 later on if you...

68 Barracuda Slant Six Automatic Transmission

Slant six is cool nowadays for the interesting wow factor at car shows. They can be made quick with hop up parts and gearing. Once upon a time they were everywhere. If your intent is to make it quick, you would be farther ahead dollar for dollar installing a V8. I owned 4 different slant 6...

68 Barracuda Slant Six Automatic Transmission

You need to find a 67-69 A body with all the parts. Pedals, linkages, etc. the A903 3 speed was a manual shift on the column. I dont believe the A903 ever came as a floor shift. My 67 notchback came with a slant 6, A903 column shift combo. I kept the pedals, down rod, Z bar, column, and pitched...

    Crank Seal Fitment Issues

It appears to me that the outer metal ring of the old factory oil seal is still pressed in the cover. I bet that's the problem. Tin timing covers didnt normally have a circular reinforcement around the hole like that. I may be incorrect on that too, but thats what it appears like to me.
