    There was a time not so long ago when Rotella diesel oil was the hot ticket item to combat flat cam lobes. A lot of people swore by it - including MANY on this site.

    Is there a general rule of thumb for which plug should be used for reading when the engine has a dual plane manifold? I'd imagine reading them all would provide the most info, but you're still somewhat limited by use of a carb in terms of tuning each cylinder, right?

    After a month, your fuel bowls are likely empty. No number of pumps will help. I'm surprised your buddy's edelbrock isn't any worse. They're notorious for that issue.

    That's a pretty short tire. I'd be willing to bet you won't pick up any ET in the 1/4 going from your 3.23s to a 3.55 or 3.73 with your mild 408. With my old 408 duster, i ran identical ETs with 3.23, 3.91s and 4.88s. I was a kid then and had no clue what I was doing, but they're data points...

    The older cast Mopar 4" cranks are junk. Not sure who made them, but I had one break in half ~12 years ago in a VERY mild 408.

    They work with stock springs just fine. I've seen plenty of fast cars at the track with stock springs and calvert bars. There's a reason they recommend their springs. Sure, they probably work a little bit better, maybe. But they also make money on them...

    Bring it up in 1st gear til the valves start to float. 100 rpms below that is the limit.

    I'd start with more accelerator pump shot. I've only dealt with holleys, but it sounds like you're not getting enought initial fuel when you mash the throttle. More accelerator pump shot should help.
